Congrats Ski! I supported and love wearing the 1928 shirt over at Cameesa. For those of you who don't know which one I am referring to, it is the second from the top on the right. It is currently for sale there.
I have mixed feelings about this design as well as the "artists" view on modern art and other bits of commentary there on the right...however I'm going to spare myself the time writing about it as I'm tired, it's not really worth the keystrokes and I'm sure no one cares. I'll leave it at I'm definitely going to pass on this shirt and any future designs created by skirochester.
I play the viola so this almost wakes up my nostalgia for my old orchestra, but it also wakes up nostalgia of my older brother blasting Nirvana. Bad days.
Way to publicize your ignorance undertow976, bad form dude. It's perfectly fine to not like Cobain or the band, but jesus dude you've got serious issues.
@everyone who's complaining about Cobain being a lefty - I'm a lefty, and play guitar left-handed, but I also play violin, bass, and cello right-handed.
Thank you Idebold. If you don't know anything about cello playing STFU already. Curt's holding it correctly in the picture. All cellists finger with their left and bow with their right. Same with violinists, violists, and bassists. Go to any orchestra concert and check for yourself if you don't believe me.
I like the shirt, could care less if it was Cobain or not, I just like Cello's. It has cool color and the fade to black is a nice touch.
I agree that even if he was left handed he might have played the Cello right, it doesn't matter anyways, it's just a shirt.
@ iamgracie, we get that it takes a while to ship, but for the price and the originality it's a good buy, besides every internet site is different. We should just be thankful the quality is a bit better than w00t's.
Kelamity, you totally missed Idebold's point. He's saying some string instrument players are ambidextrous when it comes to playing instruments. Your generalization about ALL cellists fingering with their left would definitely be inaccurate. There are lots of string players that still hold the cello or violin or whatever else on the opposite of their body. Who knows, maybe Kurt would've been a right handed cello player.
With that being said, I can retract my previous comment about it being "innacurate" because I guess I didn't think of that. I guess i do hold my cards in the opposite hand from all of my other family members (except my sister) and we're all right handed folks.
that is really cool, I think I'm in the dark about some of the references but I really like the colors and lay out, if I had the funds I'd be in for one!
Left or right handed, you play orchestral string instruments all the same way, neck in left bow in right. If you didn't, you'd be bowing people in the face in a group orchestra setting.
Ugh. Decent design, technically speaking but incredibly lazy. Why not a clarinet or an oboe? This description "How rebellious is playing the guitar, really? Maybe in some ways, rocking on the cello is more true to the spirit of rock and roll..." Is so far off the mark in any way that it sounds like a 14 year old wrote it.
I'm tired of puns and lazy pop culture references. Tee Fury WTF? If this is is just going to be a high school t-shirt site than fine, but point me to something a bit better please.
Cello's are pretty different than violins...I don't think hitting your caps lock while you type is very adult anyways, so why ask for an "adult" design?
This is a nice design but really not something I would wear. I think that this, as well as most of the artwork on the right, is more fitted for a print than a shirt. You have some mad skill that deserves to be more than just worn and dirtied...
I am really diggin the ski scene on the right. My eyes can't rest when looking at it, they just dart all over thanks to all those strong diagonals. I'm really freakin out about that piece, and its weird because I would normally scroll past it without a thought. It almost looks like a really distorted perspective due to the skis coming at you but when you analyze it its normal. Its trippin me out man nice work!
A word from the curator: How rebellious is playing the guitar, really? Maybe in some ways, rocking on the cello is more true to the spirit of rock and roll...
Tell us the background of this design. I originally came up with this idea for a shirt contest about "alternate history". A lot of people credit Nirvana with transforming the music industry in the early '90s ... but what if Kurt had played the cello?
I think this design just makes for a fun, ironic shirt for any rock, grunge or orchestra fan. What do you want TeeFury fans to know about you? I work in the fast-paced world of advertising design and really enjoy it. What do you absolutely not want them to find out? My bank code is "Bosco". Name a few of your favorite things. Tree skiing in fresh powder. Jolt Energy drinks. Soccer. Poker. Tennis. Golf. Fishing. And too many TV shows to list. What are your feelings on modern art? I respect that artists try and push the envelope on "what is art" and experiment with crazy new techniques and presentations, but I feel that it's reached a point where there's no given scale on what is good or horrible. The subjectivity makes becoming a successful artist pretty frustrating. Lemonade vs. limeade: which would win the battle? Lemonade has the "ade-market" dominated. Describe your favorite shirt that you own, and why you like it so much. I don't know if I have a favorite... but there are two I really like. One is from veer that simply says "I draw pictures all day". I like wearing that since most people think that's what an art director does. And the other is by illustrator Glenn Jones called "Team Photo"... which shows a foosball team lined up for their photo. His shirts are all pretty good but that one was a must-own for me. Which is better, gaming, reading, or watching movies? Name your favorite title in your chosen medium. My gaming stopped at PS1. My reading for leisure stopped at the Hardy Boys books. So I'm gonna go with watching movies. My favorite is probably the entire Oceans 11,12,13 series. What inspires your work? Most of my designs have some sort of meaning or concept to them. I draw inspiration from everything that interests me in life. Any shout outs? Definitely my wife & daughter ... who put up with me working all day and then coming home and drawing all night. And all the people who have supported my art and continue to help me grow as an artist.

And yes, Kurt Cobain WAS left handed, so this illustration is inaccurate :) Still a neat design regardless.
