I must say it is quite a unique design, makes me think of Bug's Life and that big caterpillar but he's like... high now, xD! Nicely done loving the details!
I'm a huge Alice in Wonderland fan, but I prefer a little more originality in my t-shirt designs. This is fun, but it doesn't seem "inspired" by anything to me so much as it's the classic image in a new rendering.
Considering the fact that I am wearing Alice Painting Catepillar from Woot right now, I have to say I love this shirt. I applaud your attention to detail and I like your choice of colors. Bravo Sir!
The line work on this is very elegant, it's a very charming design. The last two designs on the right are amazing as well. Are they for sale somewhere?
I love the design, love the art, the hookah! But I don't like tees in that color. I bought one once, even though I didn't like the color, figuring I'd wear it anyway, and I didn't. But amazing job and congratulations!
I love this! The color won't be flattering on my pale skin but I'll make it work..... I remember the walrus shirt on shirt.woot, but I don't like regular t-shirts, I prefer the babydoll style. If I ever see it on here, I'll be buying that too!
Aw man, I like this a lot (and love the song that inspired it!) but I told myself I wouldn't buy any more sand shirts - they're like the exact color of my skin. :(
wow! some great comments so far! thanks everyone who has looked, bought or left a comment. okay, to answer a couple of questions.. the Walrus vs. the Eggmen shirt belongs to shirt.woot now so unless they decide to reprint it you can only get it from someone who wants to trade theirs. check teetrade.org.
i'm submitting the Watch of Ra to Teextile.com (possibly today) so look for it there and vote for it! also the 3 other designs i have there now (as toe2254)
the Hephaestus design is available in my shop on spreadshirt
http://232548.spreadshirt.com/us/US/Shop/
(along with the Emergency design and some others).
perhaps Jabba is inspired by the "original" caterpillar from Alice.. who knows..
anyway, again thanks everyone! have a great weekend! Keep feeding your head!
Oh man. You are a screenprint artist after my own heart. I LOVE this design, everything about it, and all of your pieces on the right are amazing! Everyone of them speaks to me and relates to me in a personal way. :)
I'm so mad I don't have the money to buy this shirt from you! I'm so in love with it.
I think it's hilarious that you list your wife after reading burger wrappers. ;)
Like the design, cause I like Alice in Wonderland and "White Rabbit," but the color wouldn't work too well with my skin...I don't think I'd end up wearing it often enough to justify spending money on it. Sorry!
I absolutely love, love, LOVE this design but wish it was on another color shirt. I already have quite a few beige shirts, even though I am not a fan (at all) of the color. Beige does not flatter most people. Were I printing this shirt, for women, I must've gone with sage or yellow. But what a great design though! I'm a HUGE fan of Lewis Carroll and really appreciate the artist sticking with traditional illustration on this one. "Alice In Wonderland" is one of those classic tales that conjures timeless imagery -- and there is no improving on perfection. Very nice work, Artfish!
I like it, but the colors are a little too... pastely for it to really say 'Alice in Wonderland' for me. I just finished reading that book, so I seriously considered it, but.... not today, though I think this caterpillar just might give me nightmares tonight. O.O
Gonna pass on this one, but I'd buy a shirt with any of the designs on the right...especially the eggmen attacking the walrus, that is frickin' awesome mang!
A word from the curator: I love the imagery of Alice in Wonderland- it's so full of ordinary objects that transform into something fantastic. The caterpillar is the best of the bunch, because his characterization in the story influences how you begin to view the real animals. Suddenly, that slow, wavy walk they do is put in a different light...
Tell us the background of this design. well, it's obviously inspired by Alice in Wonderland (to a degree) though it was more directly inspired by the song White Rabbit by Jefferson Airplane " Tell 'em a hookah smoking caterpillar has given you the call". he has always been my favorite character. What do you want TeeFury fans to know about you? very little. it adds to the mystique of my online persona. What do you absolutely not want them to find out? i'm a 47ish year old guy who lives in a small town in Florida, works in a local screenprinting business as the staff artist. i'm married, and i like coffee ice cream and mt. dew floats. Name a few of your favorite things. Raindrops on roses and whiskers on kittens,Bright copper kettles and warm woolen mittens, Brown paper packages tied up with strings... oh wait, you mean MY favorite things.. um, well.. movies, reading (anything from burger wrappers to Shakespeare), comic books, way too much television, my wife, rain... the list goes on. What are your feelings on the lottery? i'm for it, if only they'd let me win now and then. Do you prefer gluttony, sloth, or lust? well.. if i have to pick one i'd say lust with gluttony running a close second.. we're talking a photo finish here.. but if i had to pick one.. lust, yeah.. definitely lust.. for sure.. no question. Coke vs. Pepsi: which would win the battle? i don't drink either so i don't really have an opinion about that, but i don't think either would do that well without opposable thumbs. or hands for that matter.. not to mention brains.. unless they're being used as weapons.. then i think Coke might have an advantage because it's really really bad for you.. Describe your favorite shirt that you own, and why you like it so much. wow.. so many to choose from.. right now it's a Dallas Stars jersey my grandson gave me for Christmas. i'm a big fan of the team and we can't watch the games here in Florida so it's a reminder of both him and the Big D. Which is better, gaming, reading, or watching movies? Name your favorite title in your chosen medium. i'm going to go with movies.. my favorite being a toss up between Night of the Comet, Dawn of the Dead (the original), and Casablanca. there are a lot of other contenders and it changes depending on my mood but those three i can watch any time.. repeatedly, and not get bored with. What inspires your work? man, so many tough questions.. life, i guess.. i like themes, themes are good and helpful for inspiration. Any shout outs? my wife, my fellow artists (you know who you are), MJ for liking this design enough to recommend it, any fans known and unknown who vote for and/or buy my designs, my parents and baby brother, my kids and their kids. i love you all!
