"cannot insert into order_masterColumn count doesn't match value count at row 1" ... yeah, same thing here... this is my first purchase on tee fury, hmmmmmmm
I'm trying to order it but it keeps giving me a message about not being able to fit into master order column or some such stuff. I'll try again later because I really want this shirt. I love the style and I love Poe.
yeah, it's not working for me either. this is the first tee i am going to buy, too. dang. i think i jinx everything, lol. i'll be back later tonight to purchase. peace.
I'm an English major and I was born on his birthday. Oh, looked through the rest of your art and it is all absolutely stunning! I love your style, it brings out the character in the portrayed people.
Once again, excellent illustration, but I continue to miss the appeal of these shirts.
I'm currently wearing a tee I bought at an Andrew Bird show. It shows that I am a fan of his. But it's also not just his face. Indeed, it doesn't have his face at all. Indeed, the vast majority of concert tees I own required the design to be as wearable as the band was listenable.
What I'm basically saying is, I'm sure there are a good number of unprinted poe-related designs that are more than just him. It could be him furiously scribbling at an old desk. it could be him as a raven. it could be him in old clothes and turned out pockets and called Edgar Allen Po'. But this, while again excellent art, just makes no sense as a shirt. I'm sure sales will disagree, though, so yay sales.
The shirt all the way on the bottom right is Lon Chaney, Sr. as The Man in the Beaver Hat in the lost silent film, "London After Midnight." I'd love to buy that shirt, or any other Chaney shirt, here on TeeFury.
No problem! I just know her, and know how hard she works on her drawings and paintings, and if you were to compare the picture and her drawing, you would see how different they actually are. I am ready to wear it proudly, and am glad the gang at TF are working on it for us!
I really like the way the design is placed on and incorporated into the shirt, without losing its traditional drawing look. The white tie balances the lighter background very well. I am impressed!
Hey everybody... thanks for all the wonderful comments... I'm having a little trouble getting over "peen..." haHA! I think I like it... the word, I mean...
Okay, managed to get mine. I'm happy now. When I was little, my dad would read me Poe as bedtime stories (He was a college literature professor before he retired).
I really like it.
But I don't know much of Poe's work, I'd feel like a poser wearing it.
But I could learn....

Brilliant work though. I love those pieces too. ----->

Hahahahaha.
What a great sense of humor. I must agree as well. This is awesome work.
As to the uhm.,, "person" who was saying "how hard is it to alter an image?"
Oh, C'mon.... You have to have subject matter to work from if you're
doing a near realistic portrait of someone dead and all there is, is a famous few photographs to work from. This was done in charcoal. do you disbelieve that?
It's so much easier to take your bitterness out on someone than it is to actually improve your life so you don't have to spread negativity.
Think positive.
Be positive.
Try to be less paranoid than I am. :D
someone correct me if i'm wrong, but for your portraits, do you color your entire [canvas, paper, etc.] in charcoal and then "erase out" the highlights? i tried this technique a couple times and it's tough and takes a lot of patience! well done!
Thanks, HeyReputah... that's exactly what I do... I cover the paper with charcoal, work with the darkest shapes first, erase out the highlights, play with the subtlties, and finally add a small amount of white chalk in the brightest areas... it does take a lot of looking and squinting... but it's fun...
The people on the right: on top is indeed Emma Goldman, called the most dangerous woman in the world... in the middle is Louis Cyr, the strongest man in the world during his time - could push a freight train up a hill... on the bottom is Lon Chaney Sr., the man of a thousand faces, in his role as "the man with the beaver hat" in the lost, but much sought after film, "London After Midnight..."
I just love the pencil portrait style of shirt design. I must embark on this myself someday. Excellent t-shirt design and the images on the right...superb.
I bought one a couple of weeks ago and haven't got it yet, but I'm debating about getting this shirt XL or a like a tall tee, because it would look sick. I just wanted to know if it was soft or a hard durable t-shirt(cotton.)
Hey SonBear. They're durable cotton shirts. I've ordered from other sites and gotten flimsy, too-small shirts. TeeFury's shirts are as big as the sizes say they are and they're thick, high-quality shirts.
SonBear-- TeeFury shirts are a tad heavier weight than American Apparel shirts, but I personally like that. TeeFury shirts are very durable and extremely comfortable. I find that a size small TeeFury shirt fits me a little better than a medium American Apparel shirt, so I think a TeeFury small is somewhere between American Apparel medium and small. Hope that helps.
First teefury shirt for me.. ive got a few for my girlfriend but this is the first one i really wanted for my self B^) NOW THIS IS ART!!! thank you teefury for finally bringing us an awesome Artist and shirt!!!
by the way is the Lon Chaney Sr. on a shirt anywhere??? love your art and will be glad to be wearing it real soon!!!
p.s. still wishing for a teefury bird shirt since i missed the last one B^)
Words from jimiyo: What better way to say, "Hi, I am well read, intellectual, and... there is a small possibility, if you mess with me, you might get buried alive."
Wear on those days when you want that, "Oh snap, he's wearing the Poe shirt, stay away" effect.
Tell us about this design: It is a charcoal drawing that was done as part of a series of drawings for an exhibit. I initially started the series as an exploration into people who are stared at by others. I did a lot of sideshow people, but it started evolving after about the 20th drawing into a little expedition into the infamous and dark. And since I've always loved Poe, I thought it would be good to include him, especially with the unnerving and haunting way he seems to stares back.
Tell us about yourself: I went to school, got degrees and stuff, and was set loose upon the world. I started off doing mainly expressionist pieces and I worked that way until recently. I was getting a little bored with my own angst. So I looked back and examined some styles that I had left behind and I redeveloped a graphic style, which seems to be quite suited for digital art, and I basically just started drawing again... other than that, I live in a small apartment with my daughter in the middle of Georgia - in Macon, rhymes with bacon... home of Otis Redding, Little Richard, the Allman Brothers, a couple of REM folks, and Chuck Levell... inventors of the kazoo... home of female serial killer Anjette Lyles... and we're about to have one of the biggest street parties in the world... good times...
MAC or PC? I'm a PC these days.
Any Tales of Intrigue? Do Tell! (any interesting story, or wild occurence) My first show was censored. It was a group show and first they rearranged the walls so that my stuff was in its own small room; then they put up a sign warning people about my art; and then, after the opening, I was told I had to remove two pieces of work. I wouldn't have done it if they had not threatened to close the entire show and I didn't think it would be fair to the other artists. People were outraged and there were petitions drawn up and signed, but it didn't do any good. And things like that kept happening for a while - I got fired from my job because they thought my drawings were too controversial. They didn't seem so weird to me, but man, I thought I'd never catch a break...
