I like the placement, but not such a fan. On those colored shirts, they seem like they would look floral from a distance. Love the 1 color look though.
I like the shirt and the design overall (would be kind of cool if it went the whole way around). I'm torn about the color, because they're both great combinations, but doesn't really scream "Ireland" to me. Not really a fault of the design or anything, but that shamrock on the bottom right looks like a little asterisk over the groin and distracts a bit from the whole design.
good job, congrats on getting a print! I like that there is more to the shirt than just a design. Keep it up, keep pushing forward, and keep those aspirations high!
I don't love this one. I usually love Sweeney's stuff (I'm wearing the green shirt at the bottom of the designs on the side as I write this), but this one just doesn't do it for me. It seems a little plain, almost stale, especially set against the drab backgrounds. Some color would help this design immensely.
I'm not crazy about the design because I don't feel that the crosses are very original (wish none of them repeated), and I'd like to see an Orthodox cross on there. Also, I'm not sure about the swirls. However, the verticality and placement is dynamic and I love the neutral colors. Great job and I may have to add this to my quickly growing t-shirt collection! Congrats!
i second the motion to ban "first" comments although i probably am guilty of it. i ll have to check the budget to see if i could add this one to my furious collection.
First of all, I like the design. It is pretty basic but I feel like that's some of the appeal.
Secondly, the question: I got your "call me" shirt in my grab bag and loved it but I keep getting asked what the numbers mean and I figured it was worth a shot to actually ask the artist and see if they were random like I've been telling people or if they had some secret meaning that you were willing to share.
LISTEN UP, TEE FURY! STOP DIFFERING W/M COLOURS! I'm frickin' SICK of seeing awesome designs on hideous colours. I look like one of the rotting undead in Sand. I LOVE silver. I cannot wear a MS, plus, men's shirts fit different. I would get this IF I COULD GET IT ON SILVER.
Not a fan. It's a little too photoshop stamp-y/miami ink-y for me.
This isn't anything to do with the design or artist, you obviously have talent, but as a resident of Savannah, GA, I have to say that St. Patrick's Day is getting so incredibly OLD.
The dictionary is great for all of us. We should be kind to non-native English speakers (if that is the case) even though it is (apparently) a socially acceptable form of prejudice.
To Fairynymph: not all the colors available for men are available for women. That may be why there are different colors offered for men and women at times.
Apologies for the grammar in the question, probably due to my dyslexia.
Here are some answers to your queries.
It's not on green because the artist didn't want it on green and was going for a more subtle approach (A shirt you can wear all year round).
It's on different colors because of the reason Snarkygirl gave ^.
Liner13 I'll ask Sweeney about that number thing, good question.
Wow! I really like the simplicity of the is one. and my girlfriend is irish, so really going to think hard about this one in the morning... just can't trust myself late at night anymore :(
Like it a lot, but was never one for vertical designs. Especially not this one, mainly due to the color schemes and the almost-floral pattern. Good job, though, must've taken a lot of time :)
Sadly, this looks like an overuse of the "celtics and coils" Photoshop brush set.
Don't like it. Seems very random and neither the symbols nore the colors are my thing.
But I do like the design's vertcalness (... verticality? whatever!) and placement.
The numbers on 'call me' are my brother and sister's birth years. That was my little secret touch.
Thanks for all of your comments and suggestions. I will try to take them on board in my other designs.
Not a big fan of this one, and sad I missed out on the "call me" shirt. My boy has it and I love it. Come to think of it, I could probably just wear his ^_^
But yeah, this one feels a bit too stampy for me [to second someone else's opinion] I like the fact that it's on grey though, ties in with the stone rubbings and all
While I see everyone's points, I personally like this shirt a lot. Of course, I'm a sucker for celtic designs. But I really like the elements in it, and the subtlety of it--I would never buy a green shirt with a shamrock on it, but I'm very likely to buy this one. I'll give it a little more thought first, but I'm definitely liking it.
I love the design, and I really like the placement on the shirt. I agree that I like this colour much better than if it had been green. I also agree that it would have been nice if each cross was completely unique, but I still like this enough to buy it. :)
I have been looking at this site for a few weeks, and this is the first T I have decided to buy.
This is a good site!
I like the content and the low prices. I will continue to be a regular here!
The design itself is nice, but the men's silver makes the design look metallic and mechanical from far away, almost like gears grinding until you get up close... :-/
I like it on sand. I am not a female. If I liked the shirt any more I would consider an operation.
I bought a mens because I like the silver with this one :) However, I'm in agreement with pretty much everyone on here IT NEEDED TO BE GREEN! I would have liked it much much better if it had had more actual knotwork in place of the crosses however. The celts were around looooooong before Christianity.
I really like the shirt, but I understand where everyone is coming from. Though I did want to comment on sw33tt3a03's comment. I am not Christian, and I have absolutely nothing against crosses. Besides. To me, they make the shirt and the theme, regardless of religious views. I have never been this excited about a teefury shirt before, and though I've purchased several, I made an account to comment on this one in particular.
Absolutely love it. And, I'm not entirely sure I would buy it in green. I think it would've been too holiday-y. Like, how can I put it - too commercial. Like the artist tried *too* hard. I really like the sand, so I'm rather excited. I'm also very tall, (which is why I love teefury shirts so much) so the vertical placement + the crosses + the Celtic symbols = complete win for me, though I understand why it isn't for some people. :)
Personally, I would not buy this.
It does look floral from a distance, and that's just not cool with me. There are also too many crosses for me. I did notice the triqeta in the upper left of the design, and that balances them out a bit, but not enough.
As for the shirt color, I like the fact that it's not green, but I think it would've been better if they were both a more outright blue. I think it would ad a bit to the design in whole, and it would also represent St. Patrick more, as his color was blue.
dont hate me wotto, but i just dont wear crosses :(
im not saying the shirt is bad at all.
i would like to request a shirt on kelly green soon, since its the proper time of year to be asking lol
This makes no sense to me. Why wasn't this printed on a shade of green? Or in shades of green on a nice contrasting color? I would've considered it then. In fact, I would've enjoyed wearing it on St. Paddy's.
Sadly, I think this was a bungled choice of colors.
I kinda hate to be nitpicky, but it sort of bothers me that the shirt is titled "For Patrick", and yet it's covered in four-leaf clovers.
It just kinda goes to show how the vast majority of people don't really get St. Patrick's Day. The four-leaf clover isn't even an Irish symbol.
The shamrock, with it's three leaves, is a symbol of St. Patrick because according to the stories, he used it to explain the Holy Trinity. There's only three of them. Not four.
I don't care if you don't believe in the Holy Trinity: there's no denying that the holiday exists because of the man, and the shamrock is representative of him because of the Trinity, and that a four-leaf clover completely misses the point.
mah -- a jade-ish or emareld green would be better for the shirt colors and maybe add a gold/yellow to the design and take some of the crosses out so the designs inside really come through --- just my thoughts --- love the placement : )
I saw the celtic crosses and the shamrocks and thought this shirt would have been great in light green, and the ink a dark green, or the other way around but still, it needs green! It feels rustic and old in the color it is now, and it does remind me of all those pewter celtic crosses you see though, heh.
Me am gone say me liked da dee zine uv dis shurt!!
There, how's that for annoying the grammar police on this here site!!
Seriously though, I think the cross is such a powerful design motif in general. Doesn't mean I care for religion, I just like the shape. Let's get someone to mix more skulls with crosses and see if we can't piss off some religious zealots!
I've liked both of your designs Sweeney; I'm sorry I missed this one, since my family is from Ireland too! I tried your portfolio link, but i dont think it worked. I hope to see more of you around here, and maybe a reprint of this somewhere else!
A word from wotto: I haven't featured a girl designer for a little while so when Sweeney asked me if she could do a design for St Patrick's Day I was chuffed. I like how subtle this is. It says "Hi I am irish and proud". Love working with designers who are keen to learn. Be Nice.
You have skills, how did you acquire them?
I don't consider myself skilled. I am still very much learning. Wotto has given me another shot at teefury and I am extremely grateful for that. I am hoping to grow and learn. I want to develop my own style.
So tell us how you developed this T-shirt design, what was the starting point?
My Grandfather was Irish and this tee is dedicated to him. As a little girl I visited Ireland and kissed the Blarney stone. It had an impact on me. I used to do rubbings of celtic designs as a child and I have tried to incorporate that into the design. It's an St Patrick's Day Tee or a tee for anyone who likes celtic art.
Which T-shirt do you wear the most?
I wear pretty plain T-shirts most of the time, but I do have a Linty Fresh tee I wear a lot.
Name one artist you think is underrated?
That's hard. I would say Atomic Child's stuff should get more attention.
Star Wars or Star Trek?
Star Wars. Luke kissed his sister.
Which 5 famous people would you like to have dinner with (dead or alive)?
Bob Marley, Martin Luther King, Marilyn Monroe, Heath Ledger and River Pheonix.
What book would you suggest for people to read?
The Harry Potter series.
Who has been the best client you have designed for?
Can I call Wotto a client? He has been very supportive.
Who would you most like to dance with?
Gene Kelly
What plans do you have for 2009?
Get married.
What animal would you be re-incarnated as and why?
Owl because they are AMAZING and wise.
Want to promote a website/someone/yourself?
I don't have a website as of yet but I'll give Wotto a SHOUT OUT!

A quick question: do the two shades of gray cost the same as a one color print or is it two? I am gonna guess two, but I am not sure.
