Yo, sgt pepper! Yeah, my baby keeps me mega busy, so I'm sporadically on soot, here, teextile, etc. I'm glad this printed too, and also glad I went to the trouble to upgrade the design. Big ups to MJ for this one.
Verilens, first let me say you are a man of discerning tastes; the CE3K shirt is one of my faves, but it isn't printed yet. Email me, and when it does I'll let you know. On the girls color, unfortunately the Kelly isn't available. If I could have, both prints would be on Kelly or grass green, alas 'Twas not to be at the fury.
On a positive note, I'd like to direct people to my righthand comments RE haters- they come out at night, mostly. Don't worry, tek- you'll get a chance to extreme fail one day too. Keep at it!
Really? Cause if this shirt was revealed on this site at noon as opposed to in the evening I'd of still perceived it as an extreme fail. Time of the day is really quite irrelevant.
Well, tek, I'm sure your collection is filled with awesome and unimpeachable work the rest of us can only dream to aspire too. In any case, best of luck with that attitude - you'll need it. As for me, I'll take the smiles of those that enjoyed it, and toss your comments where they belong - right into my heart, where their importance will be treasured forever.
Silly aegis, keep on "drawing pretties"...after all, where would this world be without incredible works like "Where my oompas at?" and an image of Che Guevara with a McDiddles logo on his hat (just brilliant I tell ya, brilliant!)
Thanks for the luck with my attitude, I appreciate your kind words. I'd like to wish you luck as well with your shirt designs as you too will need it. I will follow your lead and toss mental images of your art into my heart, where their importance will be treasured forever. Hell, maybe I'll even buy a shirt to remember our friendly banter by...hopefully hallmark doesn't print this on a greeting card and if they do I guess we'll split the money 50/50, sound good?
Hey, sure! Buy a shirt, that's cool. He'll, throw some links up here to wherever yours are printing; you can ride the coattails for a while. I'm assuming you're being printed and making a living in art? Hmmm? Gonna finish that novel you've been working on? An engaging protagonist, who grows in the resolution of your conflict? (end stewie voice). Whatevs. I call this color "envy green".
To all who aren't so sad and mean spirited, enjoy the shirt, and I hope you laughed. I know you have a choice of shirts when flying today, and hope you'll join us again soon!
Hahaha! Well, enjoy there fine sir. It really has been fun. As for me, I gotta get up so I can get up in the morning and do some fun stuff. Stay frosty, everyone. Enjoy your evening, and at least ten and I can agree on one thing- last nights shirt ruled taco supreme.
well the shirts funny but what i found more entertaining was tek and aeqis - way to go : ( round one goes to tek --- cant wait til 2morr. shirt for round 2 and of course the shirt . . .
Aegis - great to see you on teefury again, I'm sure I own an older one of your shirts and this one is cute too. I like the background - the flowers and the mountains sorta within the clouds. If the girly was on kelly green I'd definitely pick this up, hopefully we'll see you printed here again soon. Definitely made me chuckle anyway, and the comment battle too; can't call a winner.
I do like the design, made me giggle. It has nice colors, too.
but I hate army green. :/ It doesn't look good on me and just doesn't look good overall.
Wish it was also on Kelly Green.
Twirl, it's cool when people don't like stuff; not every design is for everyone. He was attacked for being a DonkeyKong, and an "all talk" one at that. There were several folks before him that didn't like the T and nothing was said at all because there's nothing wrong with that at all.
Luckily for us, "out of respect" the guy stopped posting. Also, I agree with an earlier poster- che *is tired. Kinda funny, but that WAS a former derby shirt. I should have reused some of the images from my last printing here on thanksgiving for my righthand stuff. Time to go to work, now! Thanks.
BTW Aegis, I have your Geisha girl shirt and everyone I know always hounds me about where I bought it at. I am only so happy to spread the word, great job!
EDIT. i dont mean to distract from aegis' hilarious work, i think its great. i just always see jimi curating, and am glad to see one of his shirts for sale.
"EDIT. i dont mean to distract from aegis' hilarious work, i think its great. i just always see jimi curating, and am glad to see one of his shirts for sale."
Not at all! Jimi is teh awesome, and deserves every bit of success. Everyone be sure to check his offering at http://shirt.woot.com/ today - it is freaking great stuff.
The girl's is on Olive because that's the only green TF's vendor offers :( . I know this is a huge bone of contention for a lot of ladies, and all I can do is say I'm sorry. On Che, it really is a silly throwaway design, made for some woot derby on economics I think. If you want it, I'll send the full-res PDF to anyone that wants it and you can print it up yourself; just email me (see the right side for my address in the last image).
On the Badminton tee - here's how you make it:
1) obtain a light-colored undershirt
2) Obtain a dark colored sharpie laundry-marker
3) Write the words on front and back.
4) [don't] Profit!
I wouldn't buy the shirt because I'm just not a big enough fan of The Sound of Music, but I do really enjoy the way in which you executed both the clouds and the apron folds.
Clever idea, well created and clean. It's not my style tee, but obviously people like it out there and are buying. I find it a little funny that you mention on the right about being all about ignoring the haters but you got sucked into that hater for a good minute haha.
Yeah, I probably could have phrased that better, Arrow - you're right. I suppose "ignore" isn't the right word, but "don't allow externally motivated hacks determine the worth of your art for you or define what you should or shouldn't like or do" didn't really fit in with the straight gangsta style of the interview. But that boy was interferin' wit ma papers, church. And that's when shiz needs to get real, cause THIS IS NOT A GAME and baby wants new shoes and a pony :).
It's super-ok to not like a style, for sure. And it's perfectly OK to vote with the dollars - in either direction. Thanks to all those who have done either, really.
Hey Aegis, Great design on todays shirt, I love to rock a ghetto blaster on my shoulder so this was a no brainer. I picked one up for myself. Keep up the good work. Thanks
I know your tshirt offer is almost done but I'm just starting a production of Sound of Music at my school and would love to order a bunch of these in about a month. Is it possible to be in touch with you then? Lmadressel@yahoo.com. Thanks
Yo, Robo... Here's a big version of that design, so you can actually read it! I like it too, but it's SUPER geeked for sure. This image is actually one version behind, but all that is changed is that I missed the hyphen on "combined" the first time and fixed it.
Quickpost this image to Myspace, Digg, Facebook, and others!
It's funny, but I seem to do Holiday shirts at the wrong times. That one was done about 3 days before Halloween. Now, I REALLY, REALLY hope so, but it might be a few months from now - sales will be much better if we wait for that one. Thanks for remembering it! I'd like to get Merry Hotmas for Xmas and Franken for Halloween this coming year for sure.
A word from the curator: If the hills were alive, would they really be listening to showtunes? That's the question this shirt poses, and I have to say it's a good one. Hills are solid, strong, and stoic- surely their sort of music is more akin to what you'd hear blazing from a boombox than what you'd hear on Broadway, right?
Tell us the background of this design. A lot of my stuff is "mash-up" work, where I take two great tastes that don't normally go great together and make it work. I wanted to do a hip-hop shirt for all my light-skinned brosefs and hosefs. I am not exactly sure what that even means. How did you get started designing t-shirts? The first shirt I remember doing was for a fake skateboard company called "Good". My buddy Dave and I made them with a screen kit from the art store in order to bluff our way into (REDACTED) skateboard camp in the early 90's. I had a friend who was a guest pro there, so we made some shirts and stickers and claimed to be one of his "sponsors". The plan was to stay for one day; we ended up staying for 5 and showering in our clothes because we came ill-prepared.
As for turnin' legit, I just decided one day that I'd try to get some papers in this shirt hustlin' game, nosayin? What advice would you offer to aspiring designers? Do not temporarily assume the persona of a street thugsta for the purpose of an interview. On a more serious note, It sounds cliche but concentrate on the basics of your tools and composition. Also, like all art, make it fun/satisfying for you - it will come through in your work Lastly, don't just do shirts. I do tons of freelance logo work, for instance (yes, please email me if you need logo work done). Lastly, there will be haters - you can safely ignore them, like you already ignore movie critics. Diversify! What would be your dream job? A real dream job is any job where you don't feel like it's a job. Right now, I am sort of there - I work at an ad/interactive agency drawing pretties for a living for clients all over the world. I suppose if my job allowed me to snowboard/skate all day that would be rad too. Oh yeah, and hella benjis foo'. What are your feelings on superheroes? I only like superheros that are superheros by force of will, not nature. I'll confess. I almost cried at Ironman. To explain, it's a well made film in which a scientist is portrayed as something other than a villain. He's cool, he's popular, and he's rich. When he realizes that his science was causing some problems, he used MORE SCIENCE to solve his problems, not some ancient mysticism or magic. We need more of that message in the world today. Tony Stark didn't waste his prison-cave time praying for Hanukkah Harry and Mecha-Zeus to fly down on a magic chariot and smite his enemies. Tony Stark makes his OWN solutions. Tony Stark knows it's all about 4000-inch screens, a house *in* a hill, exotic alloys, and straight bangin' dime-pieces.
Also, I think that we have to remember the many real-life superheros out there making a difference in so many fields. Next time you see a teacher, a scientist, or a physician - really anyone trying to do reality based, good work in the world - say thanks! Do you prefer Disney or Pixar? Pixar. That was easy! One grizzly bear vs. five football players: who would win the battle? That would be one full bear. The bear is an exquisitely evolved foraging and fighting machine. It's not even an issue; the ballers lack the requisite disembowelling equipment to ensure victory. Also, I'm unclear if you mean USA football or rest-of-the-world football. Either way, same result. Describe your favorite shirt that you own, and why you like it so much. It's a white undershirt that says "I'm one bad minton" on the front and "ask me about my (shuttle) cock" on the back in sharpie marker. I like it because I made it when I was asked to play badminton; 10 minutes later I was lookin sharp and out the door. What was your favorite as a kid: comics, cartoons, or movies? Was there a specific title you liked most of all? Actually, i was a bookworm. Of course, I loved Star Wars and Robotech. But I liked books (mostly nonfiction) and videogames. What are a few of your favorite websites? This one, of course - after that, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zsmuP6mbCK4, newscientist.com, and any that I got paid to make! Any shout outs? My Six Foot homies past and present, my family, Yahweh, H Potter, Gandalf and the other fictional characters who are out there keepin it (not) real. Also, my best buddies - Jake, Viet, Dave, Alex, Chuck and Grayson. Most of all, I thank my beautiful wife and daughter.

But, why oh why is the woman's shirt in military green? The kelly green shirt ROCKS with this design, and is a much more flattering color.
Still, I'm really tempted to buy this tee (if in men's style). I got my two grab bag tees today, and it was a huge disappointment.
Also, where can I buy the Che-Mcdonalds shirt? I'd pay $$$ to stick it to my Che-loving economics prof.
