Tell us about this design:
 
I did this design after talking to dan mumford on the phone- we talked about techniques and styles and methods etc and so it just inspired me to try something new- plus i wanted to draw a bird.

Tell us about yourself:
 
I live in Wales which is 200 miles away from england and borders with france. I like cats loads and I love my wife. I used to work real hard at finding the 'best things' in life, untill i realised that all that working to find them was making me miss them. Ferris knows his stuff.

Where did this name "GodMachine" come from?
 
It was the name of this band I heard that kinda set the tone for me way back when- go check them out. Obviously they will sound dated to you know but at the time they blew me away. Everyone likes the name.
 
You live in the UK, what impression do they have of Americans over yonder?
 
americans are amazing people- kind, honest, trust worthy and have ideals that they aspire to. Just seems a shame that over the past 8 years its all gone tits up. My only change I would ask of america is to stop listening to your media- I listen to Fox news and Air America (left and right) all day when I work. AA is cool, it has chuck D as a dj and has lots of interesting guests. Fox news...well, all I can say is when I relay the stories and reports to my mates in the pub we either make shock gaspy noisey or swear alot. But when I went there (states) I found a friend in every person i spoke to (this was pre-paranoia though)- except the jocks at this frat party who kept saying 'who brought the limey' ahaha- I didnt mind- It was like being in a film hahah. Plus the jocks were putting their already bud lite through a water filter!!!! I nearly cried!!! couldnt believe that!!!
 
I heard some british social speaker saying about the usa: 'they have a can-do attitude.'
 
I hear that you once journeyed into the center of the earth to battle an evil manifestation of GodMachine, what was the outcome?
 
they made a film out of it called 'Charlie chonkers wonky factory'.

You've accomplished many things in the last year, how did you do it?
 
determination and studying and asking questions and  listening.
 
I was determined to make a go of this- i really wanted to do something with the small amount of skills I had.
 
I studied a lot of work i liked- followed the lines and the shading and the compostition. read some blogs, articles and books. Made a folder on my desk top where I would dump images i liked and ask my self why i liked them and what made them work.
 
I asked loads of questions- I plucked up the courage to email artists I admired and put questions on threads.
 
Listening- the people you ask have lots of skill and do know what they are talking about- and seeing as you have taken the time to ask- you may as well listen to them. I still ask now...dont I editior hahah and I will always ask. I know some people who ask 'what should I do', 'whats missing' 'what do you think' etc etc and then totally ignore the advice they recieve.
 
the only time i dont apply the advice is when I either cant be fucked to change it or I really dont think thier ideas work or the client wants it that way. You can do everything everyone tells you otherwise it both wont be your own and you wont be happy. You have make it your own.
 
study other peoples work but bring something new to the table- add fresh elements- be it the colours, the positions anything to take it that one step further and away from the person you admire the most.
