Nice design, although the first thing I thought when I saw it was a patriotic shirt that you usually see rednecks wearing. If I can get over that, I'd might buy it.
I'm commenting to call EdwardBlake a smurf, but I guess while I'm here I might as well comment on the shirt too...
It isn't that bad of a design, but I also would not buy this (ever). It's really boring (I don't know how else to explain it). It might be that it's not a very unique style. In fact, 3/5 of the pieces on the right are pretty generic pieces. The kind you see every day over at emptees.
Aw man, don't be hating on me. Where are ya from? Prob east or west coast, eh? Well, if you head on to either Midwest or south and find a redneck gathering, you'll quickly find out what I'm talking about.
Most excellent shirt. But I AM on a shirt buying hiatus. and to EdwardBlake.. am I to understand that you think only rednecks wear patriotic shirts? If so, then I agree with Lashy.
Lashy, rather than just calling EdwardBlake a smurf, maybe you should explain why you disagree. Because having lived a few years in the south now myself, I can attest to the validity of the statement (although I don't think it's quite on, since the dragon really throws off the whole "patriotic american" thing.)
Anyway, about the shirt: I like it. Not my favorite shirt, probably mostly because of the color, but I do like both the concept behind it, and the actual artwork itself (the style is refreshing). If I was more into dragons, or eagles, or the struggle of Japan vs. America, or military green, I'd consider buying it.
I usually keep negative comments to myself if I don't like a shirt but in this case I have to say this shirt is an "Ed Hardy" logo away from making me feel like the cool kids that frequent the night clubs. I'm just not all that endeared to it =/
I think if "Furious Skies" wasn't so blatantly in Mesquite font, it would have looked better. For sure would have considered it more if it were hand lettered.
And maybe I'm the only one, but I'm not a fan of the juxtaposition of Eastern dragon and American eagle. I guess it doesn't make much sense to me unless the wearer is Asian-American.
don't mind the negative comments, this is awesome and you know it. just look at the way it's colored. can you show me any "typical" designs done with such awesome technique?
Fatty for the win.
i agree with stablercake about the print, EdwardBlake about the "america smurf YEAH" shirt feel, and Lashy about the boringness. I like your other work on the side (though none of them are quite my type for a shirt) but i really dont see why this one is today's choice :/
So anything with an eagle on it represents America? Man, better send a note over to Montenegro or the other countries currently with eagles on their flags.
I'll just hop into my time machine and tell the Romans that it's America's symbol, and they have to stop using it in their art too.
Not to mention, the last I checked Chinese Dragons weren't American, but I'll have to look into that.
In all seriousness, I can see the connection - but I think it's a stretch to call this a "Patriotic shirt". I do agree that the design is pretty typical though.
Man, if I didnt just buy a T-Shirt with an eagle on it for my next NASCAR trip, I'd be all over this!! I like the design myself, fat mouse, but I guess we all cant be yuppie stock traders from up north.......
awesomerobot: Just to let you know, in the artist's description of the piece, he refers to the eagle as an "American Eagle". Sorry to beef your argument.
I think people are smart enough to know that the dragon is Japanese (or Eastern in general at least,) but the amount of Eastern dragons in the American mainstream recently is overwhelming, especially in tattoo flash.
All three of the symbols (eagle, dragon, banner) are very tattoo flash-y. This isn't to say it's not well done (it IS well done, Mouse, don't take my words as an insult to your work) or not art or something, but there's already SO MUCH of it saturating the market, the TeeFury followers were hoping for something they COULDN'T find at the mall.
i kinda like this shirt, but the juxtaposition of the eastern dragon and the eagle is just a little too random without any reason backing it up. also, the colors are really pretty awesome on the background, but the dragon gets swallowed up by the blue and green design in the back.
i understand that these are symbols that traditionally have deep historical and cultural meanings, but the designs people look for on TeeFury not only have to be technically and conceptually solid and unique, but they also should have a degree of topical strength. when the artist just throws together a couple painfully overused motifs with unoriginal lettering and mediocre (at best) technical skill, you have to ask yourself: why you would I want to wear this, let alone spend money on it? i would like to think that this designer has some ability, and that this is just some lazy fluke. **hopeless optimism**
This is definitely a radical design. I simply love it!
It's one of those designs that make me think of the word 'hip' as the colors blend so well and really pop out!
A word from the curator: There is no more extreme place to fight than in mid-air- as claws fly, the fighters fall, dodging both blows and an untimely death shattered on the rocks below.
Tell us the background of this design. My representation of an epic battle between two strong symbols, the American Eagle and the Japanesse Dragon. How would you describe your style? I don't think i have a well established style because I'm doing all kind of designs, from a sweet one color bear to hard rock bands zombies
I just don't want to stick with one style, I'm afraid I will get bored If you could collaborate with anyone, who would you pick? Eamo Donnelly, just check this guy's work ( http://eamo.com.au/ ) What historical figure do you most admire? Rasputin If you weren't designing shirts, what would you be doing? painting and playing poker online (2nd one for living ) Do you prefer coffee, tea, or hot chocolate? Coffee Penguins with laser eyes vs. flamingos with battleaxes: who would win the battle? Penguins of course Describe the last shirt you bought. "The Seasons of my life" by Wotto here is a photo http://www.designbyhumans.com/shop/detail/3403?category=all What has been your favorite vacation or travel experience? I loved the last summer vacations, A trip to UK, London and a road trip trough romanians medieval towns with a nice ending at Dracula's castle...bwaaahaaha

North America is the only place bald eagles are present which is why the USA uses it as their symbol, so YES. BALD EAGLES REPRESENT THE USA.
Though I still support Ben Franklin's idea that we should be symbolized by the turkey.
