oh sweet, super mario bros. items! took me a second to see it, I like it. there's mushroom, leaf, fireflower, and a piranha plant (though not an item, but still cool)
Did wootshirt get a new layout or something...oh wait this is teefury (scratches head) Teefury, careful not to turn into another wootshirt printing stuff like this...I'd say congrats on the print dude, but I'd prefer to see that designs like yours stay within the world of woot and definitely not on Teefury. Not trying to be rude, but your art doesn't seem to reflect the overall style of the shirts that are normally printed on this site...
I hate the taste of sloppy woot derby seconds...teefury fail
Even the picture at the top of the portfolio is "woot cutesy"... This printing is like putting up a sign that says "Woot shirt derby fail, submit here".
The picture at the top of the portfolio is awesome and far far too good for woot, and I'm sad that it's them that printed it. Teknikas, you have rubbish taste. Impressionism is awesome.
And WTF are you talking about with regard to a teefury "overall style"? That's totally ludicrous, the stuff printed on here is soooo freaking diverse. That's why we have things that look like tattoos and sketchy caricatures and things that are too stereotypical and occasionally some gorgeous artwork. Can you please explain this overall style?
I'm not a fan of this particular shirt either, but seriously, don't be a DonkeyKong.
Nula, this is a comment board and that was my comment...get over it. Go vote in a wootshirt derby or something. Maybe a bit of a stretch, but I'd assume that 90% of the people who regularly frequent this site agree with or at least understand the meaning of my comment.
Now, take a deep breath....breeeeath, eveything will be alright Nula. lol
And btw, I never said I didn't like impressionism so way to jump to conclusions there Sherlock. I actually agree with you in a round about way, impressionism CAN BE awesome.
Ease up folks. Teefury is all about trying different art everyday for 365 days. Me, MJ and Jimiyo all bring a different flavour to the mix and I for one think that's a good thing. If the shirt aint for you then don't make a purchase, simple. I personally really like Infinity loops' work and the Van Gogh design on the side is so well done, seriously.
InfinityLoop Rocks. I had to stare at this design until I realized that it was a Super Mario reference. The heavy use of the shirt color in the design is really good. Helps with overall compositional unity.
"it's only in the past couple years that I started drawing again..."
Word!
"Do not fail, as you go on, to draw something every day, for no matter how little it is, it will be well worth while, and it will do you a world of good." - Cennino Cennini
@Adder regarding chess shirt - anothersite? Really? I may have to do a little more work on it though. I feel like I rushed the checkered floor and I need to do something about the placement of the rooks. The current placement may not work well on womens' shirts. LOL. Thanx for the encouragement though. I'll see what I can do.
@Sailor - You're welcome!!
@Teknikas - Sometimes seconds taste better. I had leftover spaghetti yesterday and it was awesome.
@Wotto, Jimiyo, and MJ - You guys rock. Thank you for all of the nice things you have said about my stuff.
@Sanders - The phoenix design is available to buy here if you would like. It might not be after Monday though.
Like bleou mentioned above, I didn't get the Mario reference at first, but that kind of makes the shirt a point of conversation; that's fun, right? Nice artwork, InfinityLoop.
Regarding the TeeFury "style", I personally believe there isn't really one. When collectives start to develop a style, they're audience becomes narrow, and starts demanding adjustments to maintain the status quo; like "Add more halftones", "Make it bigger" or "Print on AA", etc. Teefury's diversity keeps them approachable.
Ha! Fairly clever design, I really like it! I like how at first glance it just really looks like a plain...kinda boring still life scene. but...Pirahana plant? AWESOME.
I really like this a lot...though it's not something I would wear. Also - the first thing I noticed was the PIPE SHAPED vase with the pirahana coming out of it - that was my dead giveaway to a video game reference (i'm a nintendo junkie.) Again, i love this... and all your work is amazing...esp. the phoenix rising.
Keep it up!
...to whomever commented about the way the shirts fit (i'm assuming you are a woman, correct me if i'm wrong) just get a men's shirt instead if it's too tight in the hips for you.
I love this shirt, excellent work this one needs to be bought. I also love your "whistlers mother" on the right there...cool work and congrats on the print

I respect this as a piece of artwork, it's well designed and has clever references.
I personally would not wear it as a shirt though as I don't think it translated well into a shirt.
Teknikas, yes, this is a comment board, but I think there's a difference between commenting in a constructive way or saying "it's not for me" and telling an artist that you think their work is sloppy second reject material. That's just a DonkeyKong thing to say, and it's so unnecessary. Which is why I got angrier than necessary.
Thinking that 90 percent of people agree with your opinions is quite a statement. Might want to check that ego.
Also, "simmer down chainsaw" is a ridiculous statement. When was the last time you saw a chainsaw simmering? You make me laugh.
I, for one, love it. Guess that puts me in the 10 percent. I'm buyin'.
And to whoever suggested that the man's shirt will fit a woman when the woman's shirt doesn't (I'm assuming you're a guy), that's not the case. Men's shirts are way too big in the shoulders and under the arms.
i'm a female and love the guy's shirts. they're not big in the shoulders or the arms. the men's small fits me JUST right. i buy them instead of the girls shirts because i HATE the tiny cap sleeves.
I'm not crazy about the sleeves, either, but the man's small is way too small in the chest for me (same width as a woman's small). Same thing goes for the hips.
A word from the curator: A lot of people will try to tell you that video games aren't art. But anyone who has played a truly great game, the kind so slick it changes the way you see the world around you, knows better.
Tell us the background of this design. I originally came up with this for a contest that required the design to reference a video game in a historical art style. So I thought if Van Gogh ever got to play Super Mario Bros. 3, he would have probably painted something like this. What do you want TeeFury fans to know about you? When I was a kid I wanted to be an artist, but as I got older I got burnt out. I ended up being a computer programmer instead (which I still am), and it's only in the past couple years that I started drawing again. Introduction to the tee shirt world last year is what finally gave me the incentive to draw on a regular basis. What do you absolutely not want them to find out? I'm a cylon. Name a few of your favorite things. The color blue, hydrangeas, ramen noodles, margaritas, and Dance Dance Revolution. What are your feelings on evolution? It would be really cool if one day, humans could fly. Do you prefer the 60s, the 70s, or the 80s? I actually like the 40s better than all three. Rich with history, great music, and lovely fashion styles. Paul Bunyan vs. Davy Crockett: who would win the battle? Paul Bunyan had Babe, so I think he would win. Describe your favorite shirt that you own, and why you like it so much. Right now it's probably jecrt's Avian Crown. I like it's repetitive pattern, the pen and ink style and especially the little bird nest in the middle. Which is better, gaming, reading, or watching movies? Name your favorite title in your chosen medium. I adore all three, but watching movies is the one that I do more consistently, so I guess I should say that. My favorite movie is When Harry Met Sally. What inspires your work? Various things. I love animals, so many times I try to incorporate them. At times I'm inspired by other artists. However, a lot of times it's just a random thought. Any shout outs? My husband and best friend John, MJ for liking my design, and SailorButterfly for being such an awesome supporter and friend. She introduced me to Tee Fury.
