Yeah I bought that too, I'm definitely not a fan of sand or whatever color it was on, but its such a sweet shirt that it doesn't bother me one bit. Castle's style is a winner in my book. and i really want this shirt too but my wallet is hurting pretty badly right now! we'll see if that changes by 8:59pm (PST) tomorrow. lol
Hey all, thanks so much for all the positive comments. I'm floored, and so honored especially by you guys that recognize my design style and have made this your 2nd castle design. Thanks again!
Applebutt, me and jimiyo went back and forth on the color. The idea of the Green Lion is an ancient or at lest several hundred year old idea. I always wanted the lion to be green but I was afraid that it might turn some people off. After much debate we just decided to go with it and keep our fingers crossed. I think it turned out really well especially since the green was so symbolic. Thanks again all!
I've been battling on whether to buy this or not due to being short on money... and my buying side wins.
Awesome design and love the symbolism behind it
I saw the sketch Derrick posted in another forum, and I immediately wanted it for Teefury.Fortunately he obliged cause I felt like this is something you might see over at designbyhumans.com for $20-25, so to be able to offer it through Teefury, well, you can thank me later Teefurries! I love Derrick's style. He's got a loose vintage style, salted with symbolism. Add black shirt #15 to my wardrobe.
Tell us about the design
This design was inspired by the Green Lion, a symbol in alchemy. I've always enjoyed the mysticism surrounding this ancient practice and wanted to come up with something that I thought was a good Illustrative representation of it. I also incorporated elements of herbalism like Wormwood and Green Anise, the two major components of the herbal elixir, Absinthe. When working on this, I wanted to design something that was kinda like19th century apothecary style artwork
Thanks to Jimiyo for kinda givin this design a face lift, he worked in some balancing and good shading options. You could kinda say this is a castle/jimiyo collab...
Tell us about yourself.
I'm a Nashville based designer, I have been in the design industry professionally for about 10 years but have been creating art for much much longer. Its only in the last year that I have seriously gotten into the realm of t-shirt design. I have done some tee design here and there over the years for various clients but now I'm able to do it for myself. There's nothing better than creating exactly what you want. I'm married and and have two daughters, my oldest is in training to pick up where I leave off.
Are there any ongoing art projects you would like to promote?
I'm still plugging away on my tee collection atwww.strawcastledesign.com. Working on better ways to market my collection and increase traffic. I have actually managed to get a local Nashville based retailer to pick up a couple of designs from my collection. I'm very excited about that.
Favorite quote? "The woman is the most fiendish devises of torture to ever bedevil the day's of man"
Ulysses Evert McGill
You are stranded on an island, you can choose one friend from the list: Brian or Stewie from Family Guy, Data from Star Trek, House M.D., Tina Fey, or Alec Baldwin. Why?
yawsa, That's a though one.... I think it would be between Alec and Tina but I'm thinkin Tina would be better suited to, uh... satisfy my needs if i were in fact stranded on a deserted island.
Any shout outs? First shout out has to go to my man Jimiyo here, Jimiyo has been great to me. He's featured me on teefury for the third time now he's been almost like a mentor. He's a been there done it kind of guy in the t-shirt business and has been great with me giving advice, suggestions, and local contacts. He's just been an all around helpful guy! Mad thanks to Jimiyo!
Also shout out to my fellow pod casters, Joe, Greg and Wes. We've been doing a Movie Trailer themed podcast for almost a year now. It was a weekly podcast were we would trash talk movie trailers for upcoming movies. Appropriately titled "Trailer Trash Talk" We just got back from a little break in which we restructured the show a bit and just recorded our 35 episode which will air mid next week. And ironic, too. This is my second purchase here at Teefurt. My first was Mad Chop Barbershop... by Castle again.
Thanks, Jimiyo. Great pick. And of course thanks to Castle for an amazing design.
