Nice shirt! Looks like Sarasota, Florida--which is where I'm from.
I really like your style in all your work posted on this site on that side bar and the gradient coloring in this work especially.
Not digging the shirt currently for sale, but your work in the right margin is real nice. The sea creatures one I'd get for myself, and the cat one would be for my g/f. Do you have somewhere I could get these shirts?
They put some of these up in my hometown a couple years back. Little ones, but still. They depress me. I wish I wasn't between addresses or I'd get this.
Thanks for the comments. This is my first print here so that's pretty cool.
I was in South Florida when I came up with this and they definitely have no lack of condos there. People have to have a place to live, but the crazy thing now is that with the economy the way it is a lot of them are mostly empty.
If you're interested in the designs on the side, just go to my portfolio and you can see which ones are available for sale. Thanks guys!
Not my wearing style, but EXCELLENT idea. It looks like Waikiki beach to me, which is still freaking incredible, but oh so built up. The Honolulu area is very depressing when you put a little too much thought into it. I was listening to a woman talk about the environmental problems Hawaii was facing on the radio (which are extensive) and the interviewer asked her how average people could help, and the woman said "DON'T COME HERE!".
Not too into white, but love the design! On first look, the way the colors are, it just made my eyes follow up the buildings. Pretty cool shirt... But I just can't get white.
really love the cat for some reason... something about the line work around the head and ears.. keep up the great work and congrats on the print.. think i may be in for one.. ill have to sleep on it
Does anyone reads what the artist story is about? The people is the most important element of this piece. Can't you feel their dissappointed that they find not a coast, but tall buildings instead, when they are all ready to suntan at the beach or build sandcastles?
I like this design but when I first looked at it, my thought was "why are they facing away from the ocean??" I guess I just didn't get it, d'oh.
This shirt is not my style but I love the watercolor of the birds on the right. It is so simple yet sophisticated. I look forward to seeing what the artist does on TeeFury and elsewhere in the future :)
Great concept! I'm tempted because my family vacations on the gulf coast of Florida every year and I feel like you've really captured the feel of the condos there, but white makes me look dead.
I'd love to see the 'swim' shirt here for $9 though! :D
I love it! Must purchase. Great idea, colors, and I'm a huge fan of pencil sketch designs. Also plaid is most definitely the best patter ever and soon everyone will come to realize it.
I don't like white shirts, I look almost as bad in them as I do in yellow. But I love the design, I love the message and (the clincher) I live in St. Pete Florida! I have to get this!!!
This design doesn't exagerate, it actually looks like this in South Florida, very sad. What we do to our state's beautiful landscape and second biggest tourism draw (after the theme parks of course) is terrible. One of my favorite beaches in my hometown, Upham Beach, is suffering sand erosion and will be washed away in a few years thanks to jetties built on another beach farther north.
Kudos on the shirt Jewelwing, thank you Tee Fury!
One thing I don't understand why everyone always hates on white t-shirts. I love them, they allow for so much color and aren't boring like black tee's.
Is the little girl looking out at the water? If so, then this is really well thought out. The little one doesn't know anything different, she just likes the water. The parents miss what used to be.
i really like this one. my favorites from the side is the one with the sea animals, the cat/suitcase and the birds with the rainbow background. i really like your designs. (:
A word from the curator Change isn't always for the better, as this design indicates. It's a good principle to always bear in mind the costs of advancement, and how history might look upon the change. But a clash of attitudes is always interesting, regardless of which side you fall in with, and this shirt is both beautiful and thought-provoking.
Tell us the background of this design. I saw this antique b&w photo of some fancy people sitting at their beach estate and looking out over the ocean. Their house was quite a ways back from the coast, but at the time nothing was there and they could see the beach in the distance. Well if you were in that same spot now your view would be a lot different. Traffic, city streets, condos built right up to the water line, all that stuff... You wouldn't even be able to see the ocean past it all. I lived not too far from that spot, right across the street from the beach, and I couldn't see the waves from there. It made me wonder what those people would think if they came back and saw how the landscape has changed. The coast as they knew it has vanished. What do you want TeeFury fans to know about you? That I really appreciate all the support and comments. It's great talking to other people who are into the same kinds of things and hearing their take on it. I'm always interested in constructive feedback.
What do you absolutely not want them to find out? My phone number.
Name a few of your favorite things. A glass of scotch and a nice pair of slacks. What are your feelings on centaurs? Why? Are they becoming a problem? What is your favorite artistic style? Probably surrealism because I love the flow that so much of it has. But it's hard to put one style over another. I'd hate to be without any of them. Sometimes a nice pencil sketch can be as powerful as anything and that's what I like to do. I don't have the patience for painting. Plaid vs. houndstooth vs. herringbone- which pattern reigns supreme? Plaid is the best and everyone knows it. Thats why they made so many different kinds. Glen plaid, madras, tartan... How many different houndstooths can you name? Which author would you most like to meet, and why? Anton Chekhov, because of all the Russian writers he had the best sense of humor.
Which is better, gaming, reading, or watching movies? Name your favorite title in your chosen medium. This is a tough one, but I'll just say that although I'm not a huge gamer I loved, loved, loved BioShock. It was probably the most amazing thing I've ever seen on the screen and it gave me tons of inspiration. What inspires your work? Nature, especially the ocean. I'm always thinking about the colors and lines of it when I'm creating things. Any shout outs? Just to my friends, particularly the ones I don't get to see very often because they live somewhere else.
