i really like the top and bottom part of the design, but the middle sections with the angry snake and the angry panther(?) isn't really my style. also, animal tees aren't my style. but beautiful detail work, nice job, just not for me.

Anyways, I have been cigarette free for 1 year 9 months now, after 5 years of a pack a day smoking. Congratulations. Its so very worth it to quit! :)

thejakeyl88: both are solid designs, so i couldnt tell you which one to get. if you have to ask, then maybe the impulse isnt strong enough eh :D which is fine. i think with teefury, its like you want to buy it immediately or not. just something you feel as soon as you look. dunno.

I was going to buy it! Until I saw your post about telling someone to wait because tomorrows shirt is HOT! :) You did this to yourself ;)

Just kidding, I still may pick this one up. The color is there for me and the three eyes to me represents the two physical eyes and of course the wonderful third eye chakra we all have yet most don't use. Anyway, I'm just too curious and saw that post and was like "oh my wonder what tomorrows will be like if hes saying its going to be great and this one is already pretty damn awesome!"

But yeah, the impulse was definitely there.

Tee fury definitely has to get back to the basics, the best t shirts are either stupid, cute, or have some sort of political/social message behind them, I haven't seen a shirt like that in some time.
And at least if these kind of shirts are going to be posted, vary the colors so they are not so boring...

congrats on the non smoking Jakey!!!! I am 2 yrs 1month and 10days smoke free after smoking for 42 years. When I quit I was smoking 2 packs a day.

Thanks Jakey. And I did it without Chantix or patches (I'm allergic to the patches) or anything. Just read an amazing book called The Easy Way to Stop Smoking by Allen Carr and said this is my last cigarette and it was. I guess it was just my time to quit. I had tried many times before. Anybody who really wants to quit, I highly recommend reading that book. It really helped me although I didn't realize it was helping while I was reading it. I thought it was pretty dumb and common sense.

lysol92 - if you want cute, stupid & political tees, hundreds of options already exist for said designs. TeeFury needs to rise above the fray & continue w/simple artistic designs such as this, even though this one is not for me. Woot tees are usually too stupid & anothersite are usually too busy. Keep it up TF.

The Give Hope Love Play tee continues to be my fav. design thus far.

Tell us the background of this design.

I was attempting to capture an old school tattoo style, similar to an 2006 design I created. It was part of my own apparel line (abandoned) and found the color choices to be fairly popular, so I reused the color scheme.

Age/Sex/Location-How long have you been an artist? What kind of artists are you?

31 / Male / Nashville, Tennessee

I have been drawing since kindergarten, although I neglected true practice and focus until approximately 2001. If only, I would have pushed myself, or been urged to pursue my obvious affinity for art at a young age, I wonder at what level of accomplishment I would be at today, but I suppose today, I wouldn't have that regret to motivate my pursuits as since 2001, I have taken the Schindler's List mindset of what else could I do, or have done? So... I would say that I'm a self flagellating artist. ;P

Where do you find inspiration?

I browse alot of other artist's work, but I strongly believe that if we all waited for inspiration to create, we would hardly ever create. Being an artist is about working often, and not just creating when the mood moves you.

I found a new favorite illustrator recently. Edmund Dulac

What do you love more than anything in the world?

Love is a strong word, but I used to love cigarettes, but we broke up several months ago. We've broken up may times before, even for years, but I'm hoping we never slum it and hook back up.

What do you do when you're not creating art?

I started running a couple months ago. Almost ready to run my first 5K, and then onward!

Any wisdom you would like to impart to aspiring designers?

I often get discouraged about my choice in life as an artist/designer, but just as anything, the only rule you need to really follow is never give up.

I would recommend reading How to Survive and Prosper as an Artist by Caroll Michels. Although not specific to apparel designers, the general ideas are valid.

I also picked up a good story about a pottery teacher.
He split his class into two. One would be graded on QUALITY, the other on QUANTITY.
In the end, the ones who had the best pieces were the ones who were on the QUANTITY side.
