I so loved this shirt when I first saw it, but the dual-coloured shadow isn't really working for me. Wish I'd been quicker about snagging the original pressing before it went the way of the buffalo
cute and horrifying at the same time, just the way I like it. I'd agree in that the colored shadows throw me off a little, but I suppose that's nice in that it adds another color to an otherwise monotone design.
Looks a hundred times better on banana because the colored shadow isn't as apparent. In my opinion, it looks pretty bad on heather. Definite no buy for me. Sorry.
Is the blue/yellow self-portrait available on a t-shirt somewhere? I bought today's design, as a decent percentage of my t-shirt collection is comprised of animalia designs, but another certain percentage is made up of shirts depicting women, usually with unique facial expressions. I would love to add an expressionless face to that collection if anyone would be so kind as to point me in the right direction.
BTW blue/yellow is my second favorite color combination after brown/green! Beautiful design!
God damnit! I have bought so many shirts and it's getting onto Christmas time! Ugh! I'll just buy this tee and make more gifts. And I love the double color shadow thing. I think it works really well with the style and the color choice.
And Jayna, the fact that you are only 19, and making a profit from your art is so reassuring for me, thanks or being so awesome! And Boston is my favorite city (only 3 hours away!) Know some great artists living there.
Again, the girl's color combo is great...heather is so boring for the men...
If it weren't for the heather, I'd probably get it. Might even look better with the women's pink/white scheme on heather.
i bought my copy. you know its solid. it's also quite different from most any shirt you will ever see. i was gonna buy it before when Jayna had it available it in a different version with only one color, but that was on sale for $25 plus shipping. i love Jayna's work, but at the time not enough to drop 25+ for a shirt. now... $11... sure.. I'll buy two!
Tell us the background of this design. I was tired of making shirts with just straight forward animals plastered on them, so I decided to start killing them in various ways.
Age/Sex/Location-How long have you been an artist? What kind of artists are you?
Right now I am a 19 year old lady, living in Boston. I've always drawn since I was little, but was always thrown off from whatever age by being referred to as an "artist," I'm still getting used to the term if it even applies. I will pretty much use whatever medium is available to me, though my artistic adolesence was/is rooted in fine arts, 2B pencils, drawing naked ladies/dudes and oil paints. But within the span of my life I'd like to do everything, not just traditional/digital/2D art, but film, music, anything and everything.
Where do you find inspiration?
Well, with all the animal stuff, I think it's pretty self explanatory that when I was little I was a huge nerd who could've made forts out of the amounts of National Geographic I had stacked around the house, and yes, went to zoo camp. Zoo camp.
Besides that, I rarely have something really planned when I start it, most things come from me on a whim... which probably means I never really question where inspiration comes from.
What do you love more than anything in the world?
Good art, good food, good drink, and good friends to share it with.
What do you do when you're not creating art?
If I'm not getting angry at myself for feeling like I should be more productive, mostly just being silly and young, running around cities and feeling pretty okay with that.
What are your dreams, hope, aspirations?
Like I said before, I'd like to try out pretty much every form of creation available, and be successful at at least a few of them. I think running my own business would be pretty gnarly.
Anything you would like to promote or say to the public?
You should... buy this shirt right here, public. Send your kids to zoo camp.

not a fan of the idea mainly, or the colours for the matter.

Only the design of it is good.
Maybe you find more meaningful topics in future than how to kill a Zebra.

This one is still awful tempting on the heather, but seeing it next to the banana. Guess I've got 20 minutes to change my mind.
