I dont understand? WTF? What is this MashedPotato?
  • nickelsalsa said 9 weeks ago

I really like this, and will be buying, but the blue is a horrid colour for the design, washes it out...purple would have been awesome, or another dark like brick...just IMO :)

I really love the art.... even though I am not keen on such a blocky square print on shirts... it would have been nicer to see more negative space used to help highlight that it is indeed a cheshire cat :) ....But what really stops me from buying aside from the blocky print, is I abhor the shirt color choices... Black I see is standard which is ok its standard Tournee du chat Noir, the brown looks terrible, and the blue and orange/yellow compete too much & wouldn't be my first pick either.. Why wasn't a nice rich purple used which in many cases is Synonymous with the Cheshire Cat?

I love this!! Really loving the Vincent Van Scissorhands side art, as well. That would be an instabuy for sure - this one I think I'd prefer as a print for my wall.

Love love love alice in wonderland but I don't like that the Cheshire Cat looks so evil :(
  • dragongirl26 said 9 weeks ago

While I LOVE the cheshire cat, I don't like the block look. I think a better way of blending the design would have been idea, but the art is beautiful. Creepy looking, as it should be :D Passing, unfortunately :(

Exceptional artwork! Harantula, forgive those without a frame of reference that recalls the original poster, which you paid homage to in perfect fashion.

You might guess from the name that I'm really a Cheshire Cat fan....but something about this shirt doesn't look quite right to me...maybe it's the evil-feel of the cat's smile... I'm also a fan of American McGee's Alice, which has a very different looking Cheshire, who at times is depicted with a very sinister smile. I think it's the mix of the evil smile with the more traditional body type...who knows.

I'll have to decide later whether I'll buy or not.

it's a mash up of Le Chat Noir, a 19th century cabaret and Alice. i wasn't familiar, but i know how to google.
  • zydrategirl said 9 weeks ago

I absolutely need the Edward Scissorhands/Van Gogh side art on a shirt! It's fantastic!
  • chibicheebs said 9 weeks ago

This is very much in the style of Toulouse Lautrec. He is famous for his posters in France in the late 1800s. :). I definitely appreciate the reference--even if it is not directly Lautrec and simply more post-impressionist. Bravo.

I feel ya. Also an American McGee fan, but this would've worked better, imo, if the design was going for the facetious cheshire cat (ala Disney) and give the cat the regular chat noir stare (which is intense but not menacing), and non-pointy teeth. Close but, hmmm, will have to sleep on it.
  • RudyM3 said 9 weeks ago

Everytime I see that Le Chat Noir used in a mash up, I think to myself "I'm never going to like this design, no matter who they put in it". The streak continues.
  • gothchick said 9 weeks ago

i'd have instabought this shirt were it not for the block and text. le sigh
  • spamuella said 9 weeks ago

That bottom side art is the kind of stuff I would love to wear and see get printed! Enough with the random references and MashedPotatoes, please. It's just so stale.
