Building In Space
About the artist
Tell us about this design.
As a kid there was only one thing I enjoyed more then turning on my favorite video games, and that was building with my Legos. The city and pirate sets were awesome, but there was nothing like the space sets! Even the new Star Wars themed sets are pretty good. I wanted to make a deign that captured the space theme, and also looked like you were dumping out a container of your favorite pieces. ah... nostalgia!
Where are you from?
In a place they call the triangle, and not the Bermuda kind.
What has been your most adventurous moment?
I haven't done Bungee Jumping, Parachuting, or anything that crazy, but doing some double black diamond slopes in Vail, CO was pretty intense.
What has been the most valuable advice you've been given?
Accept and learn from criticism. It's a valuable tool, and you're not going to make everyone happy. Let people critique you, and take the feedback you feel will make your project/work better. I had trouble doing this in the past, and it's still hard when you put a lot of work into something, but having someone take another look from a different perspective can be priceless!
If you had a theme song, what would it be?
Oh boy... should I pick a game song, or a cartoon song? My current ringtone is the original Sonic the Hedgehog invincible music, so that would probably be my selection for now.
What is your favorite thing about outer space?
Peace and quiet (something I don't get too often with two little girls). It would also be the most unsettling with so much empty space and solitude.
Tree house vs. mansion: which would win the battle?
Tree House for sure. I never had one as a kid and always wanted one! Not saying a mansion is bad, but a decked out tree house with that zip-line from Home Alone... now we're talking!
Describe the strangest shirt you own.
My mom has always bought me some weird shirts. I have one that is this aqua color, with two snakes encircling one another... needless to say I need to take that one to Goodwill soon.
What would be your dream project to work on?
I would love to work on an officially licensed shirt design for something I love. It would be so cool to see the cast of a movie, or the creators of a game or something to be wearing my design. It's the ultimate reward for a shirt designer to see their artwork make an impact on not only the fans, but also the creators!
Any shout outs?
As always, thanks to Teefury for their support and helping out us artists! I can't wait for my 3 year old to get a little older and get her first Lego set... won't be long now! Also, be sure to like our Facebook page over at: http://www.facebook.com/thehookshot
