Tell us about this design:
This design is about THE GREATEST zombie slayer of all time, as well as the movies he was in. He's not the good guy, he's not the bad guy...he's just the guy with the gun and in the end, that's all that matters.
I’m from Shelbyville, Tennessee but I currently reside in Arkansas.
How did you get started designing t-shirts?
Teefury got me started. I was working a “less than desirable” job when I submitted my first design to Teefury. My wife suggested I submit and I did so, on a whim, thinking it wouldn’t get picked up. I’m happy to say that I was wrong. It not only got picked up, it also did VERY well. It gave me the kick start I needed to quit the “nine to five” and work as a freelance artist.
What advice would you offer to aspiring designers?
Neil Gaiman in his address to the University of the Arts Class of 2012 said it best,
“Life is sometimes hard. Things go wrong, in life and in love and in business and in friendship and in health and in all the other ways that life can go wrong. And when things get tough, this is what you should do…Make Good Art.”
If you get rejected, laughed at and criticized, just keep drawing and Make Good Art.
What would be your dream job?
Pretty much what I’m doing now. I’ve always wanted to be an artist, ever since I could put pencil to paper. My goal now is to hone my skills and be as successful as I can be.
What is your favorite thing about cartooning?
In cartooning, you create very simple characters and designs, but you also have to make the most out of what you have. Whether it is expressions or a pose, you have to make the most of it. That’s my favorite thing.
What would your ideal house be like?
Tony Stark’s mansion would be a good start. I would probably add a great art studio to it, but I think that would be a good starting point.
Dragon vs. direwolf: which would win the battle?
Dragons pretty much own everything in the fantasy genre.
What was your favorite as a kid: comics, cartoons, or movies? Was there a specific title you liked most of all?
Movie time was a big thing in my house when I was growing up. As a kid, my pick would have been Terminator 2. My dad ungrounded me and my brother early so we can watch Terminator 2 when it first came out. It was awesome.
What are a few of your favorite websites?
Penny Arcade and Least I Could Do are my favorite webcomics. I watch a lot of Youtubers like Freddie Wong, Corridor Digital, Phillip DeFranco and Sourcefed. There are so many sites I go to I can’t honestly name them all.
Any shout outs?
My talented artist of a wife, who goes by OfficeInk and my kids! I can always count on them for their love and support. Teefury for giving me the break I needed and the members of the various artist groups I belong to, for their wealth of information and continued support.
