Obedient and Expendable
About the artistArt curated by
Tell us about this design.
When the Turtles first became a huge phenomenon in the early 90's, the turtle action figures where quite difficult to find in stock at my local toy shop. The first figure I bought was a foot soldier, and I've been fond of these guys ever since.
Where are you from?
Macclesfield in the UK.
What has been your most adventurous moment?
I did a skydive once, it was pretty awesome, but I don't think I'll do it again. I have some photo's from after I'd landed, I was as green as a turtle.
What has been the most valuable advice you've been given?
It was actually a comic strip by Zac Gorman which inspired me to focus more on my art, I still work a day job but have made more time for designing. The strip showed Mario in the first frame doing some plumbing and looking really sad. In the second frame he was jumping on goomba's in the Mushroom Kingdom with a smile on his face. Underneath, it read "Quit your day job and do what makes you happy".
If you had a theme song, what would it be?
"The King of Rock and Roll" by Prefab Sprout
What is your favorite thing about ninjas?
I like ninjas best when they are adolescant amphropomorphic amphibians. Purple robotic ninjas are pretty cool too!
Turtles vs. rhinos: which would win the battle?
Turtles every time. Even when the rhino has a warthog helping him out. It's such a shame they have to fight all the time, why can't all mutants just get along?
Describe the strangest shirt you own.
It's grey and has this crazy heather texture on it, it's pretty psychedelic. Seriously, I don't think I own any really strange shirts.
What would be your dream project to work on?
I'd like to work on my own animation sometime, or even just a comic strip. It's always in the back of my mind.
Any shout outs?
Everyone who has in some way supported my work over the past year, thanks!
