LUIGI: ALWAYS ANGRY
About the artistArt curated by
Tell us about this design.
Well, as soon as I watched the scene of hitting that giant metal fish, I thought: Why not an art of Mario hitting Bullet Bill? I started doing it, but in the end I chose Luigi as the protagonist because I thought he deserves to be under the limelight this time. The green colors of his clothes are related in a more direct way and people would understand the reference faster.
Where are you from?
How did you get started designing t-shirts?
I hate the traditional t-shirts of the stores. A cocopalm? A surfer? A bicycle? All these stamps don’t represent anything about the world I live in. I’ve always considerate that the art in a t-shirt could be faced as a billboard. So, one day I was making geek t-shirts for me and my friends, today I’m here.
What advice would you offer to aspiring designers?
I’d say that before working for himself, the artist should focus on the type of audience he wants to reach. Listen to the honest opinion of the closest friends is the best way to evaluate a personal work before release it.
What would be your dream job?
The dream job would be not to work. That is having more fun and make money with what you love.
What is your favorite thing about video games?
I play videogames since I was a kid and I passed through almost all the generations. It’s the place to where I go when I want to disappear from the real life, go into an adventure, to entertain myself. In a certain way I consider it an interactive art.
Marvel vs. DC: which would win the battle?
DC has the most powerful characters, but the Marvel ones are more captivating. Even though the stories in both publishers dropped a lot in quality, the nostalgic value makes me prefer Marvel Comics because their characters were my siblings during childhood and adolescence.
However, in a field battle between their characters, I think DC would win because their characters have amazingly strong powers.
What was your favorite as a kid: comics, cartoons, or movies? Was there a specific title you liked most of all?
When I was a child, I’d rather comics. I thank my mother that took to the hospital I was interned a Daredevil comic. Ever since I started wolfing down comics as it was the most interesting thing in the world, and it was. I lived the Secret Wars, Daredevil – Born Again, Mutant Massacre and many other sagas that conquered me. I was losing the interest for comics while the authors started killing and resuscitating the characters, offending our intelligence.
What are a few of your favorite websites?
I use to lose a lot of time in social networks, but I get inspired by artist of the whole world in CGHub and Deviantart.
Any shout outs?
I want to thank everyone that believes in my work.
