Bana Nana Nana Nana...
About the artist
Wenceslao A Romero
Tell us about this design.
I think with all the movie fever right now, the theme song was stuck in my head. I was in a coffee shop and I bought a banana for breakfast and it was at that moment that the idea popped into my mind. So I sketched it right away!
Where are you from?
I am from Mexico but I have lived in Washington, DC for 4 years.
Which art style would you most like to learn?
I would love to learn sculpture--I would love to bring to the tridimensional world to some of my characters.
If you had a time machine, which era would you visit first?
I would love to see more of the culture of México back before the Conquistadors arrived. Plus I would love to eat some pre-hispanic tacos!
What goal do you most aspire towards?
In work, produce a recipe book. In life, lots of fun and happiness.
If you could stop any t-shirt trend in its tracks, which would you end? What trend would you like to see started?
I don't really have anything against trends -- they exist because people like them. What's wrong with that? I would love to see more of an anthropomorphic food trend, though ;)
Would you rather be rich or smart?
Rich seems much more fun.
Gotham vs. Metropolis: which would win the battle?
Tough call. I think Gotham.
Describe the first shirt you ever designed.
I don't even remember -- it's been so long. It was definitely one for my paintball business I had back in Mexico. Probably a team shirt or for a tournament.
What has been your most inspiring art experience?
Seeing the pre-Hispanic art displayed at the Mexico City Anthropology Museum as a child really inspired me a lot. And, of course, cartoons!
Any shout outs?
To all my t-shirt design buddies and collaborators out there! Love working with you!
