Meet the Missus Tea
About the artist
Tell us a bit about your design.
Who, me? No, I'm just a worm. Say, come inside, and meet the missus.
Where are you from?
Swampscott, Massachusetts...a "beautiful and tranquil seaside community of 14,600 residents located 15 miles northeast of Boston along the coastline of the Atlantic Ocean."
Do you think your location has influenced your art? If so, how?
I think so. I grew up in Nahant, Massachusetts, which is a tiny town, almost completely surrounded by water. Before I started designing shirts, 85% of the art I created depicted mermaids. I am slightly obsessed with them, and the ocean.
What kind of work do you design outside of t-shirts?
I used to paint mermaids on driftwood that I found on the beaches in my area. I also did a series of art nouveau Geisha on watercolor paper, and painted them with tea. I have been wanting to do some more work like that, hopefully soon.
What is your favorite thing to draw?
Hair, definitely. So fun. And cloth. Long flowing dresses, love to draw them. And Totoro. Go figure.
If you had a mascot, what would it be?
A polar bear, drinking coffee. I should draw that. Hmm.
Which is your favorite sport? Do you like to play or just watch?
I am not a huge fan of watching sports, but I love to swim, play soccer, and baseball. I am kinda the black sheep in my family, as I don't follow the Sox and the Patriots religiously. Go, Sox!
If you could invent anything, what would you choose to create?
A portal that connects my house to a beach in Hawaii.
Any shout outs?
My husband and sons for being wonderful and putting up with my long work hours. To my friends in the RxBA for all the support. And to Jimiyo and MJ and Tee Fury for another print, I so appreciate it. Lastly, all my fans that follow my facebook page, you guys are the best!
