Ya know I had the idea for a time travelling transformer that was a DeLorean... I think we were playing Rifts or Robotech or some other Paladium title.

I named him "DoubleBack" in honor of the ZZ Top song.

I think the deal would have been sealed for me if the gull wings were more prominent, which I understand would have probably been confusing since those doors are not an Optimus Prime trait. It'd be more suitable for Starscream, say. But then the play on the name wouldn't have neatly matched. I think if you're gonna do justice to such an iconic vehicle, then create a whole new Transformer out of it, like Ribman did with the Mystery Machine and like what was done with Thomas the Train. That way you have the freedom to fully exploit what makes the vehicle so special without being restrained by another icon. It's a great design, no doubt, and from a designer with plenty of wonderful designs (see right).

But to me, the gull wings make the DeLorean...

I almost never go for a mash-up, but this one is so esoteric, I love it. The matrix of leadership in there is the absolute icing on the cake. Awesome design. Bravo.
