About the artist
Obvian
Tell us about this design.
Also known as "How I learned to stop worrying and love the asteroid", it's a tragic tale of the late Cretaceous asteroid scare as satirised by Stanley Kubrick.
Where are you from?
My parents told me it was a stork that delivered me, but when I grew up I learnt it was actually an ibis. I felt lied to and I moved to Melbourne, Australia.
How would you describe your style?
Like the scribblings of a madman desperately trying to hold on to the cartoons of yesteryear. If yesteryear was about 1983 to 2011. I never really stopped watching cartoons.
What historical figure do you most admire?
Sharks. Any conqueror we humans have had has run an empire for maybe a couple of centuries. These finned dictators have held the oceans for 400 million years. And they're delicious.
If you weren't designing shirts, what would you be doing?
Banging my head against a desk while a customer tells me that they'll be reporting my company to a tabloid news program... Yeah, I like this job better.
Would you rather bring back dinosaurs or mammoths?
...Has anyone ever picked mammoths? Really? It's a choice between an hirsute elephant and over 100 million years of highly developed awesome.
Cookies vs. cupcakes: which would win the battle?
I think that... oh God. Wait. Wait. Wait. Listen. Wait. Listen. Cookie... No, wait. Cookie... cupcakes. Cookie cupcakes. I HAVE TO TRY THIS.
What is your favorite t-shirt color?
Grorange.
What has been your favorite vacation or travel experience?
There was the time I went to 1955 and had to get my parents to start dating at the Enchantment Under the Sea Dance. Wacky times. (Okay, I've not really been anywhere outside my country, yet.)
Any shout outs?
The wonderful RBC artists for their artwork and support in me throwing ideas at them. The musicians of Melbourne. Friends. Family. Enemies. Blanket statements ensure that I don't accidentally miss anyone...

As for the side art:
I LOVE the red panda and would love to see a shirt printed with that color scheme. That would be a 100% instant buy for me.
I also like the cookie monster one as well. I have played D&D for years and own a book from that game called the Draconinomicon (I think that is how it is spelled) and my husband and I often make a similar joke to the one made on the book the cookie has. So it totally appeals to the geek in me. Might not be an instant buy but it would be high on my list.
