Tell us a bit about this design.
Who you gonna call when a foul-mouthed fat kid from a small town in Colorado becomes the physical manifestation of a demonic Sumerian deity?
Where are you from?
Originally from a small town called Falmouth on Cape Cod, I now live in an even smaller town called Holden in central Massachusetts.
What do you want TeeFury fans to know about you?
I'm a professional graphic designer with a background in fine art, but my true love has always been illustrating really weird and random things. I recently decided to give tee shirt designing a shot as it seems like the perfect outlet for all the strange ideas rolling around in my head.
What do you absolutely not want them to find out?
That there's a room in my house filled with hundreds of action figures, statues and prop replicas…and that this room is actually bigger than my daughter's bedroom.
Name a few of your favorite things.
BACON. I think that pretty much says it all.
What kind of art did you make as a kid?
Anything and everything….drawing was pretty much all I did growing up. Whenever I needed an idea for something to draw, I'd ask my brother and he would always say, "Spider-Man". So I'd ask him to think of something else and he'd say, "The Hulk". So I'd ask him again and he'd say, "Spider-Man fighting The Hulk." It kind of made me want to stab him with my pencil.
What is your favorite thing about cartoons?
The style and quality of the animation. If a cartoon has unintentionally shoddy, cheap animation, it kind of ruins the entire viewing experience for me.
Toasted marshmallows vs. S'mores: which would win the battle?
Definitely S'mores. Toasted marshmallows are OK on their own, but the addition of chocolate and graham crackers makes it a triple threat. Every bite is a mouthful of awesome.
Describe your favorite shirt that you own, and why you like it so much.
That's a tough one, especially since I still dress like I did in high school. However, some recent favorite shirts of mine from Teefury are Mogaro's The Problem with Ninjas (the concept almost made my brain explode) and Obvian's Caffeine Powers, Activate! (very eye catching, fun style). I also love pretty much anything by Nik Holmes.
Which is better, gaming, reading, or watching movies? Name your favorite title in your chosen medium.
For me, it's probably watching movies. John Carpenter's The Thing stands out as one of my all-time favorites….the FX work is really unparalleled.
What inspires your work?
Since I'm somewhat new to the world of tee shirt design, I've found a lot of inspiration in all of the really amazing tee shirt art that's already out there. I've also always been a fan of pretty much anything that falls into the category of "nerdy" pop culture. And because I grew up in the 80's, there's definitely a nostalgic / retro component to many of my design ideas. So far, I've tried to inject those ideas with my own twisted brand of humor or with elements influenced by my love of the horror genre.
Any shout outs?
My amazing wife Layne and our beautiful daughter Mae, my brother Harry and his wife Christine, and of course the awesome folks at Teefury for printing this design!
