Would You Kindly
About the artistArt curated by
Tell us a bit about this design.
I love the games, so I'm happy to keep producing designs that other people enjoy as well. "Would you kindly" is an important phrase from the plot. The design imitates the style of the game's logo.
Where are you from?
I live in a small town in the UK called Macclesfield, it's not far from Manchester and on the border of the Peak District. For those who haven't heard of the Peaks, it's a bit like Skyrim.
What do you want TeeFury fans to know about you?
Honestly? I have lots of geekish work on other sites for sale. I know it's kind of a shameless plug, but I would love to make a living out of design. I spent alot of time drawing as a kid, but have only recently rediscovered the passion. It was a vocation that I had given up on, but now seems like a possibility.
What do you absolutely not want them to find out?
Most people don't know how much of a geek I am, I am the Clark Kent of geeks. If I tear open my shirt, underneath will be a T-shirt with some obscure gaming or film reference on it.
Name a few of your favorite things.
I'm a gamer, this hobby is a huge inspiration to design work. I play a lot of single player games, some of my favourites are, Fallout 3, Portal and Bioshock. Humour, atmosphere and imagination are things that I really appreciate in games. A recent favourite was Dear Esther.
What kind of art did you make as a kid?
I've always been a big film fan. I think I probably used to watch alot of films that I shouldn't have really been watching because my sketchpads were always filled with gruesome creatures. Movie monster mash-ups too, I'm sure the film studios got hold of some of my doodles.
What is your favorite thing about the future?
Everyone wears t-shirts designed by me.
Floating cloud city vs. underwater metropolis: which would win the battle?
I'm not a particularly strong swimmer... then again, I'm not too good at flying either. Both seem pretty dangerous.
Describe your favorite shirt that you own, and why you like it so much.
I have a tee by Andy Hunt called NecronomiCON '11. I'm sure that alot of people have seen his stuff before, he's very talented. Also, Evil dead 2 is one of my favourite films
Which is better, gaming, reading, or watching movies? Name your favorite title in your chosen medium.
I don't have a lot of time for reading so that goes to the bottom of the pile unfortunately, though I will occassionally put an audio book on while I'm driving. The Hitchhikers Guide series are easily my favourite. I couldn't choose between games and films though and it's even more difficult to choose a favouite title from each. I like the usual popular stuff, though I do find myself telling people how great the film The Fountain is, but haven't yet found anyone that likes it as much. I have similar experiences with the game Shadowrun.
What inspires your work?
Normally whatever I'm into at the time, when I'm between fads I go back to my all time favourites. Also, there's alot of great artists out there in the t-shirt designing community, some of whom have been kind enough to impart their wisdom. I've only been designing shirts since May last year, and there are so many techniques that I would like to learn.
Any shout outs?
Firstly, friends and family. Also, the folks on tumblr who have kindly spread the word on my work, and also anyone who has bought my work. Thanks :)
