This is a love letter to the show. Six Seasons and a Movie!
Where are you from?
PigBoyTees — that is, Matt Parsons and Chris McVeigh — currently operate out of Halifax, Nova Scotia. Matt is originally from the seaside village of Sidmouth in the UK, while Chris clawed his way out of the woods somewhere near Bathurst, New Brunswick.
How did you get started designing t-shirts?
The gussied up answer is that we were tired of wearing tees that had a clothing brand plastered across the front or back, and we wanted to create something cool that we’d be proud to wear. The more accurate answer is that Chris saw that Matt’s artistic talent was going to waste, and encouraged him to draw tee designs because it could put a few extra bucks in his pocket.
What advice would you offer to aspiring designers?
The thing about failure is that you can’t let it defeat you. Okay, we stole that line from Tin Tin, but it’s especially relevant to design and success.
What would be your dream job?
Well, t-shirt design is a great gig! However, Chris is an avid Lego builder and would love to work for the company. As for Matt, well... ice cream flavor tester, for sure.
What is your favorite thing about zombies?
That they will eat just about anyone no matter what creed, color or class. I kinda respect them for that.
What would your ideal house be like?
I think we’re agreed that the perfect house would look unremarkable from the outside, but inside, would have a number of secret sub-basements dedicated to toy collecting, video gaming, and of course... beer. (Okay, Matt says his sub-basement would have to have cider. A true Brit, clearly!)
Mario vs. Link: which would win the battle?
Link could hack and slash Mario down a peg or two. The little plumber has a serious mushroom addiction that Link could take advantage of, clearly.
What was your favorite as a kid: comics, cartoons, or movies? Was there a specific title you liked most of all?
Chris grew up in a very small town in Quebec. The only movie theatre was French, and so E.T. didn’t “phone home,” he “téléphone maison.” So Saturday morning cartoons were definitely his thing, if only because there wasn’t much else accessible. I know, I know, you’re playing your violins now. On the other hand, Matt grew up enjoying a wealth of cartoons and movies his favourite shows being Ulysses 31, MASK, Visionaires and Battle of the planets to name but a few.
What are a few of your favorite websites?
Any shout outs?
There a number of people but this space isn’t big enough and people will get bored reading them so if we forget anyone its not intentional.
