About the artist

Tell us about this design.
War has come to the island of Sodor! And only Sir Topham Hatt's Steam Powered Assault Engine can save the day! He's a very useful engine of war! As with my Hellmo design, this design is inspired by the TV shows my kids watch and how much cooler if Thomas was steam powered assault mech.
Where are you from?
Cleveland, OH
Which art style would you most like to learn?
The art of being at 2 places at one time like Jack Ripper from Three’s Company.
If you had a time machine, which era would you visit first?
My childhood in the eighties so I can tell myself it gets better.
What goal do you most aspire towards?
The first is being a great and fun dad for my kids. The second would be maintaining my status as the sexiest fat guy on the planet.
If you could stop any t-shirt trend in its tracks, which would you end? What trend would you like to see started?
I don’t want to step on anyone’s toes, but the Calvin and Hobbes mash-ups need to go. I grew up reading the comic strip and loved it and love Watterson’s art immensely and the characters he created. But there’s a trend that’s surfaced in the last year of taking those characters and style and mashing it up with other pop culture schtuff. All of these mash-ups aren’t bad. Megan Lara’s/bisqueet’s recent Dope Adventures is smart and well done and finds its inspiration in the show Community which the design was based on. The same goes for Captain Ribman’s Frazetta Tribute Calvin: The Spiffy Spaceman, taking the characters from the strip and reimagining them in Frank Frazetta’s classic brawny raw style. Again smart and clever and really made the whole C&H’s trend his own. The appeal of this trend finds its place in the fact people love Calvin and Hobbes and the only merchandise out there is calenders and coffee table books. Fans can’t wear a coffee table books. I’ve tried. It doesn’t cover much especially if you are a sexy fat guy like myself. But as an artist instead of following the trends and doing what everyone else is doing it may be good to forge new trends of our own.
Would you rather ride on an old-fashioned train or a monorail?
An old fashioned train is more fun with all the shaking and rickety-rocking and the toot-toot of the train whistle. Plus like Archer, I’ve always wanted to have a fight on the top of the train.
Hedgehogs vs. porcupines: which would win the battle?
Porcupines. Hedgehogs are pussies and can’t take a punch.
Describe the first shirt you ever designed.
Sasquatch Happy Hour: Lonely bigfoot sitting in a camping chair drinking beer under the moonlit sit sky by a bare fall tree with the words Sasquatch Happy Hour… yadda yada yada. Inspired by trips to a cabin in PA where we would blame a Sasquatch when all the beer was gone. “Dang Sasquatch drank all the dang gum beer!” Just sold one this last week.
What has been your most inspiring art experience?
Never thought about it. I would say the most inspiring art experience, inspiring for me at least, would be drawing and coloring with my kids.
Any shout outs?
To my wife and kids and extended family and friends who have been supportive and encouraging with this whole tee design gig and to all my fellow artists in the RBC/RBA/Art Illuminati who have sharpened me as iron sharpens iron artistically… Thank you. Also to Betty White. You are amazing!

Yeah... him and Ringo are the voices I most associate with the show as well.
Alec Baldwin and Pierce Brosnan have done stints on it as well.
