Lookin' For Love
About the artistArt curated by
Tell us a bit about this design.
I had this idea after a family trip to Disney World where I frequented the attraction Star Tours. In all honesty, I'm not much of a fan, but that ride rules so much that it obviously had my wheels turning a bit once I returned home. As I was designing it, I googled the phrase and saw that it was a line from the movie Fanboys. So, unfortunately I can't take credit for the originality of the tagline itself.
Where are you from?
I'm from Vancouver, WA. It's just 15 minutes North of Portland, OR. It's like most cities, some of it is pleasant, and some of it is overrun by meth heads.
What do you want TeeFury fans to know about you?
I think an interesting piece of information is that in addition to being a freelance graphic designer, I'm also the drummer in the symphonic metal band, Across The Sun. We signed to Metal Blade Records in late 2010.
What do you absolutely not want them to find out?
Probably that I'm a security guard at a community college. However, as uncool of a job as that may be, I do get paid WAY too much to yell things like "Get off that skateboard!" and "Hey! Give me back my hat!"
Name a few of your favorite things.
That's easy. A few of my favorite things would be; Fallout: New Vegas, drumming, and taco sauce.
What kind of art did you make as a kid?
I would normally design contraptions/gadgets with a sketch pad that my Mom purchased for me. One of the more memorable machines was what I titled "The Copy Cat." The device was essentially an eight foot tall vault that had a dial on the side of it with numbers ranging from one to four. By placing any object you wished to clone and setting how many copies of said item you required, you could find yourself with up to four exact replicas of that item. The overall design was a basic rip-off of the "Trans Chamber" Steve Urkel used to transform into Stephan in the sitcom, Family Matters. Haha.
What is your favorite thing about music?
Probably just that it exists. Being a musician for the last decade has been so beneficial in so many ways for both my mental, and emotional growth. It serves as just one more outlet for my creativity as well as an escape from my sometimes chaotic mind.
Wrestling vs. MMA: which would win the battle?
Well, I'd have to give that to Wrestling since everyone knows MMA isn't real.
Describe your favorite shirt that you own, and why you like it so much.
My favorite shirt is my solid, heather grey Alstyle tee. I wear it way too often. I love the simplicity of it. It's a neutral color that looks good on nearly everyone. However, the t-shirt that I designed for The Ultimate Warrior, and happen to own a print of, is a close 2nd for reasons I probably don't have to explain.
Which is better, gaming, reading, or watching movies? Name your favorite title in your chosen medium.
I'm a huge gamer. I don't have a favorite game, but I'm a fanatic of both the Metal Gear Solid and Fallout series. Currently, I'm playing Modern Warfare 3 on PS3. I'm always open for challengers, so anyone can feel free to add me [PSN: ICFTSdesign].
What inspires your work?
So many different people, experiences, and thoughts inspire my work. I'm very attracted to any idea that I feel like I could execute with precision, but I'm also always willing to experiment and explore. After all, I feel as though art is merely just an everlasting cognitive exploration that occasionally provides engaging results. My inspiration is endless.
Any shout outs?
Obviously I need to thank everyone at TeeFury for providing me with such an amazing opportunity. I'm excited to see if everyone is as pumped on this design as I am. Also, I must thank my eternally supportive girlfriend, Christine for putting up with me and my nerdy ways for the last six years.
I'm all over the internet, so feel free to say hi!
