Tell us about this design:
In college, every girl I knew had the Gustav Klimt “Kiss” print, either hanging up in their dorm room or plastered as their laptop’s wallpaper. I’m sure some just liked the composition, but the majority was wooed by the romance of the scene. This is the romance print for the nerds.
When did you realize that this was something you wanted to do?
I’ve always had a drive to create. Design-wise I’d say it started when I wanted a shirt for a band I liked, but all their current merch was overpriced and not my style, so I just made my own.
If there is anyone you could collaborate with in the future, who would it be?
I’d really like to work with the Jimmy Fund on advertising campaigns and branding, they’re a great organization, and I have some good ideas for them.
If you had to choose between the zombie apocalypse and the vampire apocalypse, which would you go with?
Vampires, if I lose that battle at least I’d get all the cool powers.
How many licks do you think it takes to get to the center tootsie pop?
How would you describe your design aesthetic?
I focus a lot on balancing shapes, using illustrative homages, all while trying to make the end result really dynamic.
Who is your celebrity crush?
Wookies Vs. Thundercats, who would win?
(thank god we’ll never have to test this) It’s a toss-up, but I’ll say Thundercats
Did you always want to be an artist?
No, at first it was astronaut, then batman, then a knight, then a pro wrestler, then…
Any hints to upcoming designs?
I’m working on some fun prints themed around the upcoming election that I think everyone will enjoy, and a ton of other stuff, I drop a lot of “breadcrumbs” on twitter so c’mon and follow (@swissarmyshark)
