About the artist
Tell us a bit about this design.
I've been playing fighters since the 90s, rocking out to SSF2 Turbo on my SNES, so that's always kind of been a big part of my life, and I've always been a big fan of parody art in general, so I though it would be funny if Dhalsim sold out to the trendiness of Yoga and opened up a school.
Where are you from?
I hail from sunny (usually) Miami
What do you want TeeFury fans to know about you?
Everything! I'm an open book, ask me about whatever you want!
What do you absolutely not want them to find out?
I'm not a Dhalsim player!
Name a few of your favorite things.
Obviously, I play fighting games in my spare time, but I really devote a lot of myself to art. I just really like creating things and working with my hands, and if other people like the stuff I make, then that's cool too!
What kind of art did you make as a kid?
haha I've been drawing longer than I can remember, and my family has some of my drawings from when I was REALLY young, and apparently I liked to draw Batman and Super Mario.
What is your favorite thing about photography?
I have a love/hate relationship with photography. I love being able to make people see things in a different way, and I love the technical side of it, but I hate how over saturated the market is (mostly with high school girls shooting with point-and-shoots)
New York vs. Miami: which would win the battle?
As much as I love my hometown, New York pretty much has us beat in every way. I'd be lying if I told you I wasn't thinking of packing up and relocating to NY myself.
Describe your favorite shirt that you own, and why you like it so much.
I've been a collector of street wear for many years, and my current favorite shirt would have to be my black BBC season 0 tee. It's just one of those shirts that everybody wants, but not a lot of people have it. I'm actually only missing the white version and I'll have a complete set.
Which is better, gaming, reading, or watching movies? Name your favorite title in your chosen medium.
Well I can't speak for everybody, but if I had to spend my time doing one of those 3 things, I'd be playing Street Fighter for sure, specifically 3rd Strike!
What inspires your work?
All kinds of stuff. I work in a tattoo shop so I'm surrounded by art and creative minds all day. I'd say I spend most of my designated "art" time, reading and looking at what other people are doing, and generally trying to be inspired.
Any shout outs?
I gotta give a special shout out to my brother-from-another-mother and my mentor, Pinhead Mark (www.ilovepinhead.com). The idea for this shirt came out of a brainstorming session with him. Also gotta shout my awesome wifey, Bobbi Laine (who's a hell of an illustrator herself. Don't be surprised to see her stuff on here in the future); my friend and partner in crime, Rocky, who pushed me to actually submit my stuff, all my friends and family who are reading this and buying shirts, and my second family over at Tattoo Blues in Ft. Lauderdale. I love all you guys! I also wanna give a big THANK YOU to Teefury for giving me this awesome opportunity!
