About the artist
Tell us a bit about this design.
My brothers and I are big fans of the show, so I really wanted to do a cool design so I mashed it with one of my favorite cartoons from my childhood. I was going for a blend of cartoonish nostalgia and modern awesomeness.
Where are you from?
I live almost exactly on the border of Pennsylvania and Delaware, so I’m a man from two states, but right now I’m going to school at Towson University studying illustration.
What do you want TeeFury fans to know about you?
That this is the coolest thing to happen to me and that I really appreciate the opportunity to be showcased on this site. I’ve checked it every day for over a year. Every. day. And I want them to know who I am and that I’m really accessible and to look for my other stuff on the web.
And that I’m not just a nerd, I play water polo, lifeguard, coach a swim team, and saved 3 people from drowning and a guy from a car crash this summer.
What do you absolutely not want them to find out?
That I’m terrified of puppets. But actually though.
Name a few of your favorite things.
I’m really into comics, watching tv shows from start to finish, movies, drawing (obviously), swimming/water polo, hanging out with my friends, reading, going out AND staying in, anything that can make me laugh, brunettes, good food, Batman, making tee shirts, Scooby Doo, and answering personal questions.
What kind of art did you make as a kid?
I’ve been into comics, superheroes, and cartoons since birth. My mom has dozens of boxes of just papers of doodles of movie characters and old little comic strips I made when I was just sitting at the coffee table.
What is your favorite thing about experiments?
The explosions! It’s all about the explosions.
History vs. myth: which would win the battle?
I think myth has the unfair advantage of imagination. Fact and truth are well and good, but making stuff up is a lot more interesting. If they were to go head to head, the US Presidents would get smashed by the Greek gods.
Describe your favorite shirt that you own, and why you like it so much.
Tough choice, but I have a Flash shirt that I wear really often. Just a basic lightning in a circle on red tee. It’s my signature shirt, it makes me feel like a cartoon character. Or my “Best Buddies” tee which I got on the day I discovered Teefury, because people always tell me they love it.
Which is better, gaming, reading, or watching movies? Name your favorite title in your chosen medium.
I’ve never gamed or read a movie so I guess watching movies is my favorite. But it is an even tie between movies and reading. My favorite movie is Dark Knight, I could watch it nonstop for weeks and it wouldn’t get old. My favorite book right now is the “Hunger Games.”
What inspires your work?
I make shirts based on things that I like, I make designs more for my amusement than for profit. My other art is usually illustration based so it usually follows a story or involves characters. I also like to let myself think that I’m funny so I try to add humor to my designs.
Any shout outs?
Working off of the inspiration question, I’m going to shout out to my younger brother Paul who is a really big Mythbusters fan, he’s really into that kind of stuff. He was kind of the inspiration for this shirt because I knew he’d like it. Also a shout out to my youngest brother, Tom. And I guess my parents, but only because I’m contractually obligated to do so…out of love.
And I’ll shout out to Julie, Connor, the Kersch brothers, Carolou, Nicole, Ellen, Jack Don, Jonny, Theresa and baby Steve, Race, and my roommate Matt and his girlfriend Sarah. I’m going to force all of you to at least look at this and be proud of me.
