About the artist
Tell us a bit about this design.
I'm a 80's kid, so retro games, and especially space invaders hit a nerve with me. Actually one of shirts where I became interested in apparel design was the iconic 'A Simple Plan' shirt, I am sure most people know it.
What disappointed me thought was that I did not see many attempts to make something more out of it. I had the idea to make a movie poster in a retro-futuristic environment, imagining how those few pixels could look like in reality.
Where are you from?
I am since two years living in Vienna, Austria. I love the city, it has a great vibe and there is a lot happening. Winter can be tough though, I am living close to the Danube and there are days where the cold wind is blowing you right back into your house and you just want to stay in forever. Spring and Summer are great, that's when the city really becomes alive.
What do you want TeeFury fans to know about you?
I am mostly harmless.
What do you absolutely not want them to find out?
I am a pretty shy guy - promoting myself is probably the thing that is the hardest for me.
Name a few of your favorite things.
My favorite thing is usually what I am working on at the moment.
What kind of art did you make as a kid?
Lego. Lots and lots of Lego. I just loved to build stuff.
What is your favorite thing about fight scenes?
I am not a big fight fan, but recently I watched the documentary 'Tyson' so I got stuck with his fighting style. I suppose with Tyson it is this very raw energy, that is just ready to explode, something that i have not seen before.
Dreams vs. nightmares: which would win the battle?
This is as if you are asking if I am a optimist or an pessimist. I assume it would be a tie.
Describe your favorite shirt that you own, and why you like it so much.
At the moment i am wearing the sh*t out of Cthuluchador (http://www.teefury.com/archive/1389/Cthuluchador/) it's a awesome design with a great WTF flavor.
Which is better, gaming, reading, or watching movies? Name your favorite title in your chosen medium.
I seriously cannot favor one over the other, they all have their very distinct qualities. I play few games, but If I get stuck on something, heaven help me. Gaming is great for the quality you could get nowadays, i really spend a considerable amount of time in Minecraft, just building structures and enjoying the world that opens up there.
In reading i have several phases, at the moment I am stuck with graphic novels again, i just finished the awesome 'Akira' manga, before that i read a lot of books about the history of the 20th century.
Moviewise I am very much stuck in SciFi, last good one was 'Source Code', at the moment I am watching 'Soylent Green' which really reminded me to catch up with old classics of the 70ies and 80ies.
What inspires your work?
Everything, basically. My artwork is me at play. I don't put many rules, it mainly has to satisfy myself first. It is after all my outlet to my regular job as graphic designer, where you focus on making the client is happy. With my shirts I let anything inspire me, and usually it is a mixture out of ideas and thoughts that somehow emerge.
Any shout outs?
Greetings to all the talented designers out there - Dzeri29, Qetza, Nicebleed, Queenmob, Jimiyo and all the others. I also would like to thank Teefury for printing my shirt!
