About the artist
Tell us a bit about this design.
It's an illustration of the famous "Schrödinger's Cat" thought experiment: A cat is placed in a box with a device that has a 50/50 chance of killing the cat, suggesting that after a while the cat would simultaneously be in both possible states: alive and dead, until the box is opened to actually observe the outcome, where it will only be one state or the other. It was not meant to actually be taken seriously, Schrödinger meant it to be an absurd example illustrating the problem he saw with the Copenhagen interpretation of quantum mechanics.
Where are you from?
What do you want TeeFury fans to know about you?
I'm mostly harmless.
What do you absolutely not want them to find out?
I have no idea what I'm doing.
Name a few of your favorite things.
I can distill them into traits: Creativity, intelligence, humor, and mystery.
What kind of art did you make as a kid?
Well, mostly drawings from video games, cartoons, and comic books. I remember tracing my hand and turning it into a turkey for Thanksgiving once. Also dinosaurs.
What is your favorite thing about science?
That it pulls back the curtain of the unknown and exposes just how the mechanics of this strange and mysterious universe works. That the things it reveals are much more interesting than anything we could've conjured up. And that by revealing the source code of the universe it allows us to utilize it to do and create incredible things.
Jetpacks vs. flying cars: which would win the battle?
Jetpacks win on maneuverability, flying cars on comfort. Me, I'd take a jetpack for a joyride.
Describe your favorite shirt that you own, and why you like it so much.
My 1950's Aperture Science shirt because Valve sent it to me after finding my Portal 2 illustration.
Which is better, gaming, reading, or watching movies? Name your favorite title in your chosen medium.
Apples and oranges, they're all great in different ways. I could go on forever about my favorites so briefly... "Portal" and "Bioshock" series for games, "Alien" series and everything Chris Nolan concocts for movies, and "The Hitchhikers Guide" series and Phillip K Dick's imagination for the written word.
What inspires your work?
Things that fascinate and amaze me. Often that comes in the form of science and all the fiction it inspires.
Any shout outs?
Just a big "Thank You" to anyone who shows interest in my work and of course to anyone who purchases this shirt!
Oh, and McFly - your shoe's untied.
