Tell us a bit about this design.
Eggplant Wizard arghhhhhh. As if the game wasn't tough enough already. Imagine the frustration of a young gamer in the 80's when the wizard turns you into a defenseless eggplant with legs. That kind of thing can really stick with you, and that's why it's on this shirt today.
Where are you from?
Born, raised, living and working in sunny southern California
What do you want TeeFury fans to know about you?
I work in the animation industry as a designer. I love cartoons, video games, and movies, and hope to work in each one of those field sat some point in my career.
What do you absolutely not want them to find out?
I never actually owned a Nintendo as a kid. I would have to walk 3 blocks (not in the snow) to play on my cousins NES. The day we got a Super NES of our very own was one of the happiest days of my life and the start of my chubby years.
Name a few of your favorite things.
I couldn't be the person I am today without The Simpsons, Super Nintendo and coffee.
What kind of art did you make as a kid?
As a kid I would draw animals. Everything from insects to dinosaurs. Every month I would wait by the mailbox for the latest issue of Zoobooks to come in so I would have a whole new batch of wildlife photos to inspire me (no Internet back then).
What is your favorite thing about classic animation?
Knowing what it takes to traditionally animate a scene, I'm always in awe with the amount of work and observation that went into the Disney classics. At the same time, I'm equally impressed with the exaggeration in old MGM and Warner Bros. shorts. If you get a chance check out the animation in The Dover Boys short, frame by frame; amazing stuff.
Sega vs. NES: which would win the battle?
NES hands down. There are very few Sega titles that I would pay for now to play again and again.
Describe your favorite shirt that you own, and why you like it so much.
I have a blue pixel art style IT Crowd shirt that is well worn to perfection.
Which is better, gaming, reading, or watching movies? Name your favorite title in your chosen medium.
I'd have to say movies. As much as I enjoy games, I've yet to play one that moved me the way movies have. Amelie is a movie that always inspires me to do more with life.
What inspires your work?
Nostalgia. Illustrating things from my childhood gives me an excuse to be a kid again.
