Tell us about this design.
It's a gaming-meets-reality thing. Those damned blue shells are the bane of first-placed kart racers, and I thought it might be fun to take the demon shell out of the game and put it on a country road, capturing the moment where you look into your rear-view mirror and realize that you're completely screwed.
Where are you from?
I am from beautiful Halifax, Nova Scotia... the place where it always rains when I want it to snow.
How would you describe your style?
Well like many 30-somethings I'm most comfortable in jeans and a t-shirt, with a splash color in my shoes for a bit of flair. Oh, wait... you're talking about art, right? I'm not sure I've settled on one specific style — it varies greatly from project to project. I like to mix things up, and this particular design is an example of me trying something different.
If you could collaborate with anyone else, who would you pick?
There are many talents artists I'd love to collaborate with; probably too many to name. And if I didn't list someone, they'd take it all personal 'n stuff. (We artists are an emotional bunch, aren't we?)
What historical figure do you most admire?
Batman.
If you weren't designing shirts, what would you be doing?
Biochemistry. Or more likely, working as a product designer at Lego.
Would you rather have a pet chipmunk or pet tribble?
I've have a lot of first-hand experience with chipmunks—great little critters—but they're really not well-suited to a caged life. And they poop everywhere. On the other hand, tribbles don't really move (unless they're being thrown by a stage hand) and seem like they're low-maintenance, so that might be okay... so long as there's only one of 'em.
Batman vs. zombies: which would win the battle?
Batman, definitely. Unless the zombies have utilities belts too—then he'd be in trouble.
What is your favorite t-shirt color?
I feel Iike I should say navy or black or charcoal, but the truth is that I prefer red.
What has been your favorite vacation or travel experience?
I went to the UK for two months in the spring of 2008. It was a fantastic experience and I met some amazing people. I'd do it again in a heartbeat—providing I have enough cash to ignore paying work for another two months.
