About the artist
kgullholmen
Germany, were all the film villains come from.
Which art style would you most like to learn?
I'd really like to be able to pull off some street art. Something between Shephard Fairey and Banksy, stencils vs. free hand. Never tried it … but I bet it's fun and quite the thrill, much like anything illegal you can only do at night.
If you had a time machine, which era would you visit first?
The near future of course. I'd acquire a gazillion billion bucks by cheating the stock market, like the guys in Primer did. Back in the now, I could finally build my time machine, and go to the near future, acquire a gazillion billion bucks by cheating the stock market, like the guys in Primer did. I'd also give most of that money to the poor, just to see whether this would make civilization crash or evolve. Present's future is the past.
What goal do you most aspire towards?
Becoming a respected artist, releasing a book or more, being able to pay my bills with that.
If you could stop any t-shirt trend in its tracks, which would you end? What trend would you like to see started?
Please dear Gawd, less beer labels … I don't drink beer, I don't know any beer labels, I don't care for beer ANYTHING.
I know, guys are supposed to drink & like beer, especially here in Germany, but there is no possible drink I could care less about than beer. It tastes dreadful & makes normal people turn into obnoxious morons. Also, that pun has been overplayed for some time now.
I'd like to see more clever stuff, prints that actually work on more levels than just the print. After experimenting with QR-codes & 3D I just love the idea of having something “more” to it than just a pun or a neat picture. Be creative … as in “creating something” instead of just adapting things.
Would you rather fight Batman or Rorschach?
I'd rather fight Batman.
I mean: I don't stand a chance against either of them, but after beating the crap out of me for some time, Batman would at least listen & stop when I say: “Yes yes, I get it, you're the f***ing BATMAN, I give up, 'k?!” (caps are for IRONIC BATVOICE). Rorschach on the other hand would just say “Probably true … still ...” and break another one of my precious fingers.
Futurama vs. Simpsons: which would win the battle?
Futurama vs. what? The … Simpsons? That show is still on? Don't get me wrong, I used to love The Simpsons … but that was way back in the 90s. By now it just turned into this ultra-long animated soap opera that has nothing more to say because everything they could have done they have done by now … most of it twice. Futurama on the other hand lived though several incarnations, each of them better than the previous one. And they have a university … on MARS.

Describe the first shirt you ever designed.
That was a band shirt for my own “band”. It was a glow-in-the-dark iron on printed with my old inkjet printer. Well … technically that wasn't really a band … more like me and a friend of mine goofing around with synths, drum computers and guitars.
There's this old EP of us still on last.fm: last.fm/music/vanillascope (it was called “10.000 Yards-Stare” and somehow contains Futurama samples galore). LOL … haven't listened to that in ages, thanks.
What has been your most inspiring art experience?
Every once in a while I'll read a book, see a documentary, be at a exhibition that gives me a new or different angle on the art I produce. There is this urban art thing, the Stroke.Artfair, I visited last year and it was the first exhibition that made me stare in awe at like 90% of the exhibits. This years exhibition will be in October in Berlin … and I'll be there again.
Any shout outs?
