Eh. Controller tee's are getting to be old hat and dreadfully repetitive.

Having said that, in the land of the common, you definitely stood out here. The colors are nice, you stuck with one theme instead of the ever so generic ALL THE SYSTEMS approach most of the shirts have. The line work is down right charming.

I don't know what other artist's philosophies are, but personally I try to disregard whether something is old hat or not. I find that if I'm worrying about that kind of thing I'm ultimately not producing. It's more important to me to just do what I like than to go out of my way to be "original". Ya know? I don't know if that's unambitious or what, haha, I just want to make stuff I like and hopefully others will like it.

Glad you appreciate it's merits though :)

There are lots of other controllers I wanted to throw in there, but I didn't just want to have a shirt that's a pile of controllers, the object was to spell "LOVE" with nintendo controllers. It's an homage to Nintendo.

Nope. Not at all. There is no hippo in Bebop & Rocksteady. If you recall Bebop was a warthog with purple mowhawk, glasses, and a huge nose ring.

I love this design, but I have too many black t shirts to allow a purchase for myself, so I will have to think about who to get this shirt for.

Also, I think my father would kill for the gangster rhino and hippo shirt. I'm not kidding, there is an imaginary hippo in my house that puts away the dishes and cooks sometimes and always leaves thoughtful notes. It's name is Hroch (which means hippo in Czech).

Indeed. While the shirt expresses love of Nintendo, it can also seem like a more generic "I love everything and everyone" which, besides being cheesy, I can't relate to. People aren't likable enough, for example when someone judges that there's probably something wrong with me, complete with caps and cursing, just for stating that there's only one thing that I don't like about the shirt.

I hear you, if I could sell shirts as cheap as Teefury can, I'd absolutely do it. They passed on Brock so there's not much I can do about that. But the prices on my site are pretty low compared to stuff on Redbubble and other t-shirt sites.

Duck Hunt was the first video game I ever owned, I wanted to do a design that used the Zapper somehow and I came up with this video game homage.

Where are you from?

This small obscure quaint little city called Los Angeles. I couldn't see myself anywhere else.

How would you describe your style?

I have some tendencies, I like detailed stuff, I like hand drawing things, I like working in photoshop as opposed to doing vector graphics. But I tend to try to just let the piece I'm doing dictate the style. I've never been much of a style person, I find it kind of limiting, I like trying different things, experimenting and such. I know conventional wisdom says that having a more distinct style would be more beneficial, WinterArtwork is a prime example, not only is his stuff really good but it's immediately recognizable which is obviously a big part of him doing really awesome.

If you could collaborate with anyone else, who would you pick?

I typically like to collaborate with my best friend Jorge Jaurez http://eaglegrip.tumblr.com/ we went to art school together, and have known each other for years, so it's easy for us to get on the same page about something, and I think we make up for each other's weaknesses when we work together. What historical figure do you most admire?

John Montagu, 4th Earl of Sandwich, for inventing the sandwich. I can't even imagine my life without sandwiches. Sandwich is the perfect food. Also, whoever invented chairs, I'm sitting on right now, they're pretty good. I really like sitting on a chair when I enjoy a sandwich.

If you weren't designing shirts, what would you be doing?

I'm working on some comic and animated projects right now. That's always been my primary focus. Designing t-shirts was never something I really ever intended to get so into, but it was relatively quick easy money and I ended up enjoying it a lot. It's a thrill to have complete strangers all across the world wearing my work on their torsos. I probably won't quit doing it any time soon, or ever, but I hope to branch out in the near future.

Would you rather play a video game or help create one?

Definitely help making one. That would be a lot of fun. I always loved the art of the Marvel vs Capcom games, it was kind of disappointing to me that the new game uses 3d models, I think high-res sprites would've looked amazing. I'd love to work on a game that uses hand-drawn images instead of models. I like sidescrollers. That would be cool.

Nintendo vs. X-Box: which would win the battle?

To be honest, I'm not a huge gamer anymore. The last console I owned was the original Playstation. Video games are such a time-consuming and expensive habit so I gave it away to a family member and haven't owned a console since. I can't even play most modern games when I get the opportunity to, I haven't played in so long that it's just confusing to me and I suck at it, haha. I do occasionally play old Nintendo and Sega games on emulators though.

What is your favorite t-shirt color?

I really like turquoise, or light blues. Or black, can't go wrong with black.

What has been your favorite vacation or travel experience?

Don't really have any unfortunately. Never really had the opportunity to travel. Some day.
