    Is it referencing the Last Airbender or Samurai Jack? The Title brings Avatar to mind, but my first thought when I saw it was Samurai Jack.

    umm no if anything it would be L5R not Magic.

    i really hope this is just original art and not some mash up of some sort!! even though its not my style, i really like it!!!

    Now i would very much want that zombie chick side art on a shirt!!! that would so awesome!!!!

    The first thing I thought was Yoshimitsu because I've been a Tekken fan forever, but I think it's just traditional samurai armor. Awesome design.

    If it is, well, fooled me. If not, good for you. Good for original art that isn't just putting two beloved but tired nerd icons together for some rehashed yawn.

    I absolutely love this design. The idea of a samurai with a drawn sword bordered with lotus flowers has some real beautiful irony there. The idea that lotus flowers symbolises life and it's struggles to become something beautiful and the idea of the Samurai who would only draw their sword if they planned to kill someone.
    An amazing design. The designer of this truly has talent.

    L5R is awesome.

    It seems like an original piece to me. I don't get why everyone is so certain it has to be a reference. Some of the guesses are rather silly, too.

    That said, I would love to see a few Last Airbender reference shirts here. Something with Iroh would be great.

    When I first saw it I thought it was The Blue Spirit from Avatar also. But a quick google image search proved that wrong. Then, looking through some of the other work in this artist's gallery shows it's probably not a reference to anything, just some awesome original art.

    I love all the potential references that people have pointed out. I also thought it was a reference to Yoshimitsu, but I realized it wasn't when I saw the face.

    Why has nobody made a NAMU NAMU shirt yet? TeeFury would snap that up in an instant!

    Big Trouble in Little China was what came to mind for me, in terms of a media reference. I don't think it's any particular reference though, just a very cool samurai design.

    A bit busy as a T-shirt for my particular tastes, but it would look amazing as a wall scroll.

    It's kind of sad that teefury is such a reference haven lately that most of the comments are people trying to figure out what the reference is. It could just be great original art, people.     Why does everyone rush to leave smurf comments in order to be the first poster?.....Aren't we tired of OMG, I gotta have it, YES, Must buy, EPIC, Sick design, like it...I wish posters would try to forge a more artful dialog.

    For example, I feel the design could benefit from an accent of red on the sword or a hit of light yellow on the lotus...doing so would heighten the lotus' representation of life and thus its stark contrast with the deathly samurai...

    ok i really love this design but something about the face is bothering me. i dont know if its supposed to look like a derp face or not but its putting me off and i dont know if i can get past that to get the shirt, which, aside from the face, is brilliant. i really really love the dark grey on black with white detail and there is just so much to it. but...the face.

    this is stunning. just a beautiful design. personally I think it's a little too busy for a shirt but on a guy or a gal with a modest chest it could work. :)

    and this is deffinatly not in refrence to the Order of the White Lotus from Avatar. The White Lotus tile looks quite different from the lostus symbol portaied in this image. As much as I wish it was, it's not. ^_^'

    Teefury tweeted a word from the artist about the shirt and it was an Avatar: Last Airbender quote which leads me to believe this is indeed a Last Airbender reference design, but it's an awesome shirt regardless and it's not an obvious reference so who cares, quit yer moaning.
