Probably cause it hits me right in the demographic wheelhouse, but I think this is the best pop culture y'all have done in a while.

One of my best memories of junior high school was spending an entire year of English class passionately arguing with a good friend over which kid had the better system sitting hooked up in their homes. Of course all the REAL (!) gamers know the Super Nintendo aka "NES 2.0" was the masterpiece powerhouse of the 16 bit era....but looking back and shaking my head at how much education we missed to argue about something that ridiculous, you realize how similar both systems were in philosophy and innovation. So like my friend and I, they shoulda been best buds that each both bring something sweet to the table!

As others have said, it really should be the SNES and Genesis engaged in a totally righteous air-five, but the iconic shape of the original Nintendo system (basically my generation's videogames bible) can't be beat, and this is really about Nintendo and Sega being the best buds after all the fightin and a-fussin of a bygone era.

I know it's been stated a few times, but I also must say that the rivalry was between SUPER NINTENDO and GENESIS, and NES and the SEGA MASTER SYSTEM... This doesn't resonate with me.

Super Nintendo, Sega Genesis. When I was dead broke, man, I couldn't picture this.

Wow this is epic. The two biggest consoles I remember just being... forever it felt like... If you were alive and into video games then, they may not have been released at the same time, but they were both so alive together. SMS or SNES seemed way too before or after, or just not enough. 8 bit NES was far to immature to hang out with 16 Bit Genesis. They would have never hi-fived. Now Genesis giving NES a swirly or a wedgie...that would be way more realistic.

Sega Genesis came out in 1990. Megaman 7 (for NES, you see) came out in 1994. NES didn't grind to a halt the minute SNES came out. So, yeah, Genesis and NES did compete against each other

Love the shirt and bought it, but not sure the point. Should be SNES and Genesis or NES and Master System, as previously stated.

Loving this, I thought I was the only nerd to still have and use either of these systems.

I guess I should also point out that SNES didn't come out until 1991, so NES and Genesis actually did compete with each other. The point I was making was not to dismiss the shirt like this rivalry never happened. Which it did. They were the only 2 systems. And I wasn't talking about little throwaway titles that are ported to every system. Thats why I named Megaman, a game with a huge fanbase, that you could only get on NES.

Ah yes, so I'm not the only one to notice that. I had a master system when I was a kid but I didn't know a single, solitary other person who had one.

Some of you need to calm the eff down about the systems being "wrong". Not everyone had the same systems back then and they don't now either. My brother and I rocked the NES FOREVER before we got a Genesis. And we NEVER owned a master system or an SNES. So, to me, this makes perfect sense. Well done!

This is cool, and I know retro(ish) stuff like this is all awesome and stuff... but I kinda wish it were a more modern rivalry... like a Ps3 and 360 high-fiving in the wild... that way it would not only be more relevant in this day, but it would have been slightly more original.

But it's still cool nonetheless.

I had these two systems around the same time (never had the master system, but I do still have a ColecoVision) and it was awesome. And I finally have decided to spend the money I don't have and buy it!

I love the concept, but since I bought last nights and also own way too many shirts, I'm going to pass. If it had been SNES vs. Genesis though, I would buy anyway. I went 2600 to NES, then SNES and added a Genesis later in its life because it had so many good titles also which weren't on the SNES. I've gotten many other consoles since, but I think the SNES vs. Genesis was probably the best match-up. In a battle, I would give the win to the SNES in my opinion because that had more of my favorite games, but I did love the Genesis too once I finally got it.

I said I'd buy it when it showed up as side-art for his "Rowbot" design, and I did just that! Pumped to rock this shirt once it arrives.
