This is absolutely adorable, I LOVE the design...I wish it wasn't on white though, and that I had enough money to convince myself I should still buy it =/

How did you get Shaun of the Dead from this?
That's exactly what I thought after reading that. Apparently he can't even read the interview.
Nevermind reading the interview, I simple cannot understand how anyone could look at this and assume it was Shaun of the Dead! Lol.
I'm mostly just having fun hitting the reply button now, but I'm also curious where the black girl fits in, more than anyone else. For Shaun of the Dead, I mean. Everyone was white!
Based on the preview email, I was excited to get this for my wife. I'm not really sure I can now. While she would find it adorable, a second look and she's gonna be asking about Book and Inara. Firefly fans have precious little of those characters as it is. Not sure why they were left out, but I am sorry they were.
Too cute for words. I wish so hard it wasn't on white (although I am pleased to see a Firefly tee not on brown). I'm saddened by the lack of Inara and Book.

Inara and Book weren't there at the start of Serenity, so maybe this Peanuttification happened after they left and before the events there. Woulda been nice to see them, though. Probably buying!

Maaaaan. I have been "patiently" waiting for another Firefly shirt. I am not a big fan of Peanuts.. but I'd probably still go for it if I didn't buy yesterdays shirt. Boo.
8 out of 10 Characters, and I just cant get over Serenity being mis-shapened like that....
I have bought every firefly shirt i have seen since I discovered Teefury, there's an 80 percent chance I will not buy this one... but ill sleep on it..
also its a white shirt, that alone should always be a deal breaker for me...
WHAT is with all the racism over the white tees?! Every single time there's a white shirt, the vast majority of the comments are complaining about it. I just don't get it.
White shirts look so nice on everyone... and if it's about the high 'chance of stain' factor, then just Shout it out guys!!!!
I'd been so excited when I saw the preview, but now...not so much. I don't think I'll be buying this after all. It's the white tee I have an issue with (I realise you needed a 6th colour and the white tee provides that - and it's nice to see a Firefly tee that *isn't* brown itself), or even the lack of Book and Inara...it's just the excess of brown in the design itself. It just misses the mark for me, sorry. :/

For me, it's mostly the fact that because I am so pale a white shirt washes me out color-wise. It's kinda sad, but at least this way I don't spend too much money XD
I'm curious if the way you drew Wash is a reference to that episode where he was steering but wasn't holding the steering wheel. I'm probably reading way too much into the shirt, but that was the first thing I thought of when I saw Wash.

For me, it is the staining factor. And more than that, it's the slight spilling factor. I'm the type of person to absently wipe hands on pants, and a lot of babydoll cut shirts cover the hip, and a white babydoll would likely show if I tried to brush dirt off my hands. Heather gray is great, even, but I'll only go white if the shirt is UNAVOIDABLY AWESOME.
And also what TwiliHeroine said - I'm very white. I think I look better in darker colors.

Great design, by the way, but as I've never seen Firefly, its a miss.

Hi there! It is actually a reference to an imago of snoopy pretending to be a pilot at his doghouse :-D Here
As of why Inara and Books are missing, it was a simple reason: I decided to only chose characters who almost appear in every episode so prevent a too crowded shirt - the core of the team. Even though both others are important to me too. Sorry that you guys are missing them :-D And yes, it also reflects them in Serenity.
This is beyond cute!!! Also love the portal and ninja squirrels!
I don't understand why teefury is almost all MashedPotatoes though and rather dislike that fact.
Missing Inara and Book. The geek in me just overpowers my love for how perfect this concept is: great design, though, and props to you for coming up with something so darn cute!
Very cute! The biggest problem I have with this shirt design is Captain Tightpants isn't doing anything. If Inara were included he could be mooning after her.
I love all things Firefly but this has to be a no for me... Two of my favorite characters are missing (Book and Inara). I'm glad your design got printed but I think you should make a note to self that everyone who loves Firefly is expecting the very best and just one thing out of place can ruin the entire experience.....
On second thought, I notice Book and Inara are missing. I don't mind the white, but this is an excellent idea missing two central cast members. Heck, even Serenity made it in there! I'll have to sit on this one. =\
He may not have the full crew, but it is the primary crew (meaning who is pretty much always on the ship). Inara kinda does her own thing, and Book leaves them for the Abby.
Love firefly but missing people from the cast which makes me sad. Interesting concept but going to have to pass on this one.. Would love to see more firefly stuff
chirmer said: No Inara or Book and on a white shirt means I've gone from OH MY GOD PEANUTS AND FIREFLY MY LIFE IS COMPLETE! to sleeping on this one...
Excellent execution, though! Jayne and Wash, LOLOL!
I totally agree with you! I have to think about this one. :(
No Inara - wouldn't she have been a perfect Sally? Or maybe Lucy who is always tormenting Charlie Brown :) I think maybe River should have been Snoopy - he often lay on top of his doghouse and reminds me of River just laying in the catwalks of Serenity.
As much as it would be nice to see Inara and Book, perhaps the shirt is more based upon the gang of "Serenity" than that of "Firefly." Book and Inara had left the crew in the movie. (I know Inara came back sort of, but still.)
I think it's adorable. Yes, maybe the shirt could have had a background other than white, but it's still a strong shirt. Definitely thinking hardcore-style about getting it. :)
White is such an impractical shirt color. Even if I wear a white bra it will still be visible and he design isn't big enough to hide that. Plus, no Inara or Book? No thanks. It's one of the cutest things I've seen, but it has big flaws.
Katie39 said: WHAT is with all the racism over the white tees?! Every single time there's a white shirt, the vast majority of the comments are complaining about it. I just don't get it.

Too see through is one of my big issues. Teefury shirts are fairly thin, so combine with white and it's hard to not look a bit trampy.
this is so cute, but I just bought a shirt so I have to pass. :( I love Pigpen Kaylee.
Portal side art is great. I also have the Totoro side art as a shirt from anothersite. You're a wonderful designer. Keep up the great work! Are those ninja squirrels in the last one? hee!
also, for the gals that don't like white shirts because they are see through, you need to have a skin colored bra. That will help with see through-ness. Or a nude colored camisole works well too. It's very easy to find one that won't add too much bulk.
why does no one ever include the whole cast? I'm not sure yet if this is worth getting. BOOKER? INARA? it's not like there are a lot of people on that ship.
Missing people and its white makes this one a pass for me. I wish you offered a color choices. I would have gotten so many more shirts from you. Good concept on this one though, but the artist left main people out. Can't buy an incomplete shirt.
I WANT TOTORO! I WANT TOTORO! I WANT TOTORO! I WANT TOTORO! I WANT TOTORO! I WANT TOTORO! I WANT TOTORO! I WANT TOTORO! I WANT TOTORO! I WANT TOTORO! I WANT TOTORO! I WANT TOTORO! I WANT TOTORO! I do like the whole idea, but missing Inara and Book made me question wanting to get it.
I understand that it's the crew at the beginning of Serenity, but there's no other reference to this being about Serenity specifically, rather than Firefly and the 'verse as a whole, so that arguement can all flat if you look at it that way.
I know there aren't a whole heap of shirt colours out there to choose from, and having to find a shirt colour for each sex that works well with the design can be hard, but a pale cream would work better than the white for this design.
Loving the Totoro sideart though, definitely needing that as some form of poster/print.
Don't think this will be a buy for me; missing Inara and Book, and not a fan of the white shirt. Nice print though, and congrats to the artist!
Also, Teefury, I will love you forever if you would print that Totoro side art. :3
Okay, I have some constructive criticism, which I hope is accepted in the spirit in which it's offered. :)
First off, GREAT IDEA! Jayne as Linus with his "security blanket" is brilliant, as is Kaylee as Pigpen. Kudos on concept.
However, I'm sad to say that I decided not to buy this shirt for a few reasons, mostly ones people have already stated: 1) No Inara or Shepherd Book (I'm curious as to why they were omitted), and 2) I really don't like white t-shirts. I also wish that Serenity were a bit less featureless -- she can still look like a toy, but it took me a moment to figure out that that was in fact Serenity that Wash was sitting on.
Also, with the Peanuts concept, there's a way to include Snoopy even though it might be difficult to transform a Firefly character into him, and it can be simply put with three words ...
BLACK MARKET BEAGLES! :)
If there's Peanuts Firefly version 2 with Inara and Book on a shirt with some color in it, I'll instantly buy one for me and half a dozen as gifts.
I have never done many “mash-up” shirts, but this idea seemed simple enough to work for me because it’s two ideas I can stand for: Firefly and the Peanuts. Both rock, both are awesome. So why not merge them in one design? I also feel both “gangs” have things in common – they argue, they make each other angry, they have adventures together and in the end they stick together. The execution of the design was easier than I thought, it works with my “cute” drawing style.
Where are you from?
I am from Graz in Austria, a really neat city which I recommend everyone to visit. It’s much cooler than Salzburg and Vienna, I swear! And it has a giant hill in the middle, which the devil has supposedly dropped there. And no, the tourism office doesn’t pay me to say that! I really love my city. Currently I am living in my second favorite city, New York.
How did you get started designing t-shirts?
I started out with iron-on pictures at home when I was 19 years old. I always loved the thought of putting designs I loved on shirts (it started out with designs by other artists). Later, the biggest motivation was when I had to pay tuition around 2 years ago. I really needed money. It has worked out quite well.
What advice would you offer to aspiring designers?
For shirts: Keep on trying and trying and trying! I submitted almost 30 designs before my first one was printed. Persistency and the will to learn and accept critique by others is vital. Open your mind for new concepts, but don’t leave your own style and love for certain topics – don’t bend to the Star Wars theme just because it might sell well. Study other people’s art. Read articles. Deal with the industry. And sometimes, it’s ok to sell yourself out a little. Just don’t do it too often ;-)
What would be your dream job?
If I wasn’t a designer (which is kind of my dream job) I would have maybe tried to become an actress, and I have acted in amateur plays, but I was always too insecure to become a professional. I was in a great play here in NY written by friends who really brought back my love for silly acting. I played 7 different extras in that show, 5 of whom died. Besides the actress thing, I would have probably tried to follow a romantic profession such as defender of the innocent, ninja or pirate lady. Time traveler would also be nice. Something where you get out into the sun more often.
What is your favorite thing about Firefly?
Firefly is the show where I seriously loved every single character. Usually I have my 2-4 characters I like in shows, but Firefly managed to get me interested in every single one. It is well, smartly written and doesn’t suffer under gender clichés and tropes like many other TV shows. It also always reminded me of one of my favorite Anime shows, “Cowboy Bebop”. And, come one, merging Western with Sci-Fi: Unbeatable.
What would your ideal house be like?
As someone who has lived in shared flats all her life, my ideal house would probable one that I didn’t have to share. My own bathroom, my own kitchen – maybe even a separated work area. At least that’s a dream house I might be able to get one day. If I wanted to get a little fantastic, I’d choose the house Jake and Finn live in in Adventure Time.
Popsicles vs. ice cream: which would win the battle?
Ice Cream wins, because it is capable of carrying all those tasty chunks of cookies, chocolate, caramel or whatever in it. Ice cream is only perfect when it has chunks of yummy stuff in it!
What was your favorite as a kid: comics, cartoons, or movies? Was there a specific title you liked most of all?
There is not just one: Europe had a lot of cartoons that were European/Japanese productions. Kids in Austria used to grow up with those and nobody knows them here in the USA which shocked me when I first came here. One of my favorite was “Alfred J. Kwak”, a cartoon about a little smart duck who saved the world all the time, or “Vicky the Viking” about a small Viking boy who saved everybody with wits instead of force.
When I started watching Cartoon Network at the age of 15, what influenced me the most were Dexter’s Lab, Invader Zim, Ren and Stimpy and Cow and Chicken.

I do really love that Jayne has a security Vera. I'd buy a shirt with just that on it!

I'd totally buy a Shaun of the Dead/ peanuts shirt if it existed.

1) No Inara or Book
2) No Snoopy
3) White shirt
So disappointing because the potential for greatness is so close.

You do know that that this isn't Shaun of the Dead, right?

I totally agree with you! I have to think about this one. :(
No Inara - wouldn't she have been a perfect Sally? Or maybe Lucy who is always tormenting Charlie Brown :) I think maybe River should have been Snoopy - he often lay on top of his doghouse and reminds me of River just laying in the catwalks of Serenity.

I think it's adorable. Yes, maybe the shirt could have had a background other than white, but it's still a strong shirt. Definitely thinking hardcore-style about getting it. :)

Too see through is one of my big issues. Teefury shirts are fairly thin, so combine with white and it's hard to not look a bit trampy.

Portal side art is great. I also have the Totoro side art as a shirt from anothersite. You're a wonderful designer. Keep up the great work! Are those ninja squirrels in the last one? hee!

Seriously, why leave out the obvious Franklin/Book character? And I would have thought Violet/Inara would have been a good pair...

Congrats on the print though!
