About the artist
Tell us a bit about this design.
This is from an idea I came up with about 2-3 years ago. Initially it was from a comic book about a shark astronaut on a mission to Jupiter's moon Europa. They think Europa may have massive oceans beneath its surface, so it seemed like a neat idea! That proved to be a little too ambitious, so I never got too far. However, it still bugs me that I never revisited it. Should try again!
Where are you from?
I'm originally from Croatia, but I moved to Kitchener, Ontario about 12 years ago.
What do you want TeeFury fans to know about you?
I'm usually busy as hell but am always down for some freelance work.
branko.vranic @ gmail.com if you want to get in touch!
What do you absolutely not want them to find out?
I enjoy the movie Independence Day WAY too much. After 50+ watches I can't seem to get sick of it. I tried!
Name a few of your favorite things.
Music and record collecting, classic 70s/80s sci fi movies and books. And comics!
What kind of art did you make as a kid?
Drawings of monsters and fighter jets! Not necessarily together. But sometimes.
What is your favorite thing about sharks?
They represent something that is primal, ancient and both fascinating and terrifying at the same time. Also they look good in a spacesuit.
The future vs. the past: which would win the battle?
Unfortunately, the future has bigger guns!
Describe your favorite shirt that you own, and why you like it so much.
It would probably be my Hawkwind shirt with the artwork from the album Doremi Fasol Latido. It is a metallic emblem/grill design, and to me it's completely iconic. Barney Bubbles created such a consistent look perfectly fitting Hawkwind's space rock music. Check him out!
Which is better, gaming, reading, or watching movies? Name your favorite title in your chosen medium.
Watching movies wins out, but reading is a close second. It's quite hard to pick one but it would have to be Brazil.
All-time favorite book: toss up between Foundation and Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep. Current favorites: Ringworld, Have Spacesuit Will Travel and The Futurological Congress.
Favorite game has got to be Mass Effect 2. I'm barely even a casual gamer but the MF series is proving to be one of the best things ever.
What inspires your work?
Whatever makes me laugh. Artists such as Moebius, Mike Mignola, and Frank Quitely have always been a constant source of inspiration as well.
Any shout outs?
Thanks so much, TeeFury!
