Tell us about this design.
Pretty straight-forward, this one. Benjamin Linus from LOST portrayed as Linus from Peanuts. a few tweaks to Linus's facial features (placement mainly) and a creepy turn of the head and there you have it!
Where are you from?
We are from SoLame, Oregon. If you ever visit, check out some of the amazing tourist attractions that the city recommends: Historic Deepwood Estate (it's an old house), or Bush House Museum (it's another old house), Forest History Center (it's a kind of oldish house with information about trees) or A.C. Gilbert's Discovery Village (it's two old houses full of stuff for kids to learn... science or something). Or you could skip all of those and hit up the local breweries...
Which art style would you most like to learn?
Skorp: Surrealism sounds pretty cool and I haven't painted since I was a kid.
Dakin: I did a little etching when I was younger and I really enjoyed it but with the complicated process and equipment required, I never got to do much of it. I would really like to get back into it some day. It's not so much a style as it is a technique but it's my interview so I'll butcher it however I want.
If you had a time machine, which era would you visit first?
Skorp: The 70's. More specifically June 5th 1977 in Portland Oregon. The Trailblazers beat the 76ers 109-107 to win their only NBA championship.
Dakin: If I could only go back, I would hit up the American Revolution first. It would be a great first stop on my way back through time. If I was able to go froward though, I would jump to 2013 to see if the world is still around.
What goal do you most aspire towards?
Skorp: Living a long happy life with my wife and future kids.
Dakin: Raising my boys to be respectable men with a sense of the virtue of man's nobility, who think for themselves and act accordingly, and who make enough money to put me in a good retirement home... with an air hockey table... it definitely HAS to have an air hockey table.
If you could stop any t-shirt trend in its tracks, which would you end? What trend would you like to see started?
Skorp: The style I would stop would be the shirts that look like suits. I'd replace it by starting a trend of shirts that have an excessive amount of chest hair coming out the top. I'm thinking of starting a women's line of them.
Dakin: Dinosaurs... I just don't get the dinosaur thing. If I knew what I could replace it with, I would have done it! I guess the dino shirts will live on to baffle me.
Would you rather vacation on the island from Lost or take a trip to another planet?
Skorp: I'm afraid I would never be able to leave the Island if I went to it. So, I'm going to have to say another planet. I could see ourselves pretend battling in weightlessness. WAAAAAA!!! HYAAAAA!
Dakin: I was totally going with the island from Lost until Skorp mentioned weightless Kung-Fu. I'm all over that!
Snow vs. sun: which would win the battle?
Skorp: Right now? The sun would win, but you wait one day in the future... the VEEERRRYYYY distant future. Snow shall have its day!
Dakin: I'm such a sissy with extreme weather, I would rather see moderate fall temperatures take them both out.
Describe the first shirt you ever designed.
The first one we designed as a team was... how do we put this nicely... "Up $#!% Creek Without a Paddle." It was literally a guy in a small boat setting down "S" Creek and realizing the paddles were still on the bank. It still makes us chuckle.
What has been your most inspiring art experience?
Skorp: Getting an e-mail from Teefury saying Long Live Charlie Pace was accepted. I was working overtime at my job and I took a break because I got a text message from my brother yelling at me to CALL HIM!
Dakin: I agree that what Skorp said is certainly one of mine too. At the time it was selected we had only been designing shirts for maybe a month. It was a nice reward, especially since we are both immediate gratification types.
Any shout outs?
