Scotty's Starship Repair
About the artist
Tell us a bit about this design.
What would Scotty do after he retired? I figured that he'd probably like fixing up Starships in his own little repair shop, because even in retirement that's what he loves doing. And who wouldn't trust the legendary Montgomery Scott to fix their starboard power coupling? Whether it's Jimmy Doohan or Simon Pegg in the role, it's hard to imagine a more trusted engineer.
Where are you from?
Just north of a little village called New York. That's New York in England.
What do you want TeeFury fans to know about you?
I started designing & selling screen printed T-shirts about 15 years ago, but had to give it up because I was working 2 jobs.
What do you absolutely not want them to find out?
My art teacher said I used too much black in my work.
Name a few of your favorite things.
My Wife to be, the delicious homemade Chilli we make and, of course, Black.
What kind of art did you make as a kid?
My brother and I drew comics as well as copying our favourite comic characters like 2000ad's Judge Dredd and Rogue Trooper. I was recently lucky enough to be able to obtain a complete original strip by my all time favourite Judge Dredd artist Ron Smith.
What is your favorite thing about Star Trek?
It's an optimistic future.
Star Wars vs. Firefly: which would win the battle?
If we are talking about the original trilogy, Star Wars. However, Firefly (which I love) beats anything with Jar Jar frikin' Binks in it.
Describe your favorite shirt that you own, and why you like it so much.
Flesh Wound by Captain Ribman because it's a very cheerful design. I swear Ribman could make something as mundane as the label of a sauce bottle look funny. Genius.
Which is better, gaming, reading, or watching movies? Name your favorite title in your chosen medium.
Gaming. Tribes. If you'd played Tribes you'd understand. Shazbot!
What inspires your work?
Comic and pop art, movie posters and vintage print adverts. Or what curators of a museum in the future will refer to as 'The Classics'.
Any shout outs?
