Awesome design!

This is yet another shirt this quarter that's really nice, but not a must-buy for me. I must say, though, that I'm really looking forward to the next grab bag, as there are only maybe a couple of shirts that I didn't like!

LOVE the Back to the Future reference. And normally I'd get this shirt but... c'mon....

Seriously? The same dang banner design recycled for yet another shirt? This is what... number 5? 6? Same exact design.. just a couple of changes.

Please.... let's get some fresh designs in here.

I only say this because let's face it. If you own ONE of these shirts already... you're most likely not going to have two of the same exact "banner style" shirt in your wardrobe. And if you've been on this site longer than a few months... you've seen at least half a dozen of these.

P.S. Leave a banner off of that nightcrawler shirt.. and I'm all over that one.

The line on the banner is from Back to the Future not Back to the Future 2. I understand the complaints about the date not being accurate, as the characters were headed to 2015 at the end of the movie, but cmon! This design is awesome! Not to mention, the first movie is the best, I don't care how cool you think hoverboards are.

Are you suggesting Trailer Park Boys has a fanbase equal to BTTF?

It is renowned as being one of the greatest trilogies of all time, there should be no question of how many followers it has.

As for the shirt, the art and composition is really nice. But I'm just not a fan of old school tattoo style.

And can we please stop referring to this style of art as Ed Hardish...Ed Hardy hijacked tradition style tattoos and just added glitter and smurf.

But seriously the font killed this one for me. The generic tattoo on a banner thing always strikes me as something that was tacked on to be trendy. Otherwise I like the design. It's too bad really.

as a person covered in tattoos the answer to your question is yes...yes we can. however most people don't understand tattoo culture. and they see something like this, done in traditional tattoo art and just say "hey look ed hardy!"

It's a cool idea I would have bought in a heartbeat if it weren't for the Ed Hardy-inspired work. I know, I know, "this tattoo art's been around forever before EH appropriated it, let's take it back, blah, blah...". Hey, how about more video game-inspired graphics, or caveman-inspired graphics, or Leonardo DaVinci-inspired graphics, or anything, really. Please.

I've already begrudgingly bought another EH-inspired work (cause when's the next time I'm gonna see another MOTU shirt?!), and as it is, I doubt I'll be wearing that anytime soon since I don't want to be confused for d-bag at a quick glance.

Still, I'm still thinking about this one. It might be a last minute buy (like the MOTU shirt) or I may let it quietly slip into distant memory...

Tell us about this design.

This design was actually created for someone who follows my work, and desired a Back to the Future-inspired tattoo design. The only guidelines were to include the hovering DeLorean, and try to get the Flux Capacitor in there somehow...

Where are you from?

Even though I've been living in Pennsylvania for longer than I've ever lived in New Jersey, a part of me will always myself a "Jersey boy". Keep in mind folks, there's a lot more to Jersey than "Jersey Shore", turnpikes, and industrial waste. There's also malls, diners, and "jug handles"...

Which art style would you most like to learn?

I would love to be able to do an actual tattoo apprenticeship with a shop well know for it's quality of art and artists... Right now, having a full time job and a busy family life doesn't leave me with a lot of extra time, and if I was to actually do it, I want to make sure that I do it right...

If you had a time machine, which era would you visit first?

I go back to the late 70's-early 80's to experience a lot of the bands and various music scenes in different parts of the country. Even though it was only a few years before I was old enough to appreciate good (i.e. non-commercial) music, being able to see legends like the Ramones play their first gigs at CBGB, or X or Black Flag at the Starwood or the Masque, or Hüsker Dü at the 7th Street Entry would the best possible purpose that I could think of for a time machine...

What goal do you most aspire towards?

I would have to say the eradication of my procrastination habits, and to be able to focus on something for longer than a few minutes without being distracted by.... Oh, look! A nickle!!!!

If you could stop any t-shirt trend in its tracks, which would you end? What trend would you like to see started?

I think one shirt trend that needs to go would have to be the shirts that are purposely printed to appear "fuzzy" with a phrase like "One Beer, Two Beers, Three Beers, Floor..."

Would you rather fight zombies or bust ghosts?

Zombies, hands down! My buddy Rob and I have been fantasizing about a zombie outbreak since college, planning what kind of vehicle we would build, to the various kinds of weapons we'd use, and the way we'd reinforce our homes for optimal protection. To this day, we've actually done none of the things that we've thought up. We should really get on top of that, before it's too late...

Describe the first shirt you ever designed.

I think the first shirt that I designed was something for my fraternity back in my college years. It had a cartoon like image of the fraternity house with various things like kegs and bras flying out of the windows, with caricatures of some of the more "colorful" members of the group on the front porch, engaging in various activities that I can't describe here. It would be best described as "juvenile"...

What has been your most inspiring art experience?

Although I feel like I've had quite a few inspiring art-related experiences, I've got to say meeting and creating great friendships with like-minded artists like Dave "Montygog" Perillo, Tom "Strongstuff" Whalen, Jeff Kilpatrick, and the many other members of the Philadelphia Cartoonist Society. These individuals helped to light a fire under my ass at a point when I felt like my work was stale and uninspired. Just looking at their work made me want to become a better illustrator and designer, and I feel that they've helped me achieve that, as they continue to do so on a daily basis...
