If only the Kermit side art was a shirt. I'd buy it so fast Teefury's server would be confused by my sheer awesomeness.
  • Petrichorsaid 37 weeks ago

I think TeeFury should do a better job spacing similar themed shirts. I think this one's very clever, but I know there's going to be a lot of misdirected "ANOTHER BttF shirt?!" backlash, even though it's not your fault. Good luck today!
  • rhynosaid 37 weeks ago

As it is, it's almost all the same colors as the Bubba Gump logo except the Prawn and ship background. It was one of my early attempts, and I agree it can and should be updated.

What? you don't condone the South? That's like having a shirt about Northern Exposure, and saying "I don't condone Canada." or having a shirt about Newhart and saying "I don't condone New England."
#1- Before making a statement like that, look up words you are using. Like condone.
#2- Making broad generalizations about a large geographic area based on 1 fictitious TV show is pretty sketchy. Maybe you should just not comment next time.

Actually, the 2010 Trademark is there because that's when the movie took place. Notice the MNU next to it. It's as if the MNU is the one that opened the restaurant/marketplace.

That's a limited view to think that it doesn't take creativity and skill to create this. It's art. It may not be your kind of art. There are plenty of other sites to go to for your kind of art, but this stuff is popular, it sells, it's fun, and you aren't the one investing in it.

Poorly designed, poorly drawn MashedPotatoes that make little sense or puns based on modern cult sci-fi isn't something I want on a shirt. I'm narrow minded that way.

I also don't wear bacon joke shirts.
  • SeckzBobOmbsaid 37 weeks ago

Love the idea behind the District 9 shirt. I would likely change it from District 9 to "Johannesburg Prawn" or "Jo'Burg Prawn." It's about a bit of subtlety that'll make the design pop. Also I'd darken the Prawn in the design a bit, their complexion certainly seemed darker to me in the film, at least.

The blandish grey block behind him, not sure if it's supposed to be a trash heap or simply filling space with the limited color variety available, but I might replace that with a few small shacks like they lived in while in District 9. Also, maybe remove the claw/arm from the odd positioning it's in and possibly just have a claw gripping the side of the sign where it says "District 9."

Those are a few quick suggestions, but it's a GREAT idea that if you refine, I'm sure TF would accept.

It's about a bit of subtlety that'll make the design pop.

Your suggestions are appreciated and noted, though what you are saying will completely take it away from it's Bubba Gump parody. The head and arm are in the same position as the shrimp, the light color reflects the light color the shrimp had. The grey is a silhouette of their ship, but I agree that is week and lost in the graphics. That's something I'd definitely change. I will look into reworking that and try to resubmit. I have no idea if TeeFury reads all these comments, but let's hope they do so they'll accept it next time. Thank you for your constructive comments.

    I really miss that.

Poorly drawn is a bald-faced lie. Is it the Mona Lisa of t-shirt design? No, but it's definitely skilled art. Whether you like it or not, stop being a jerk about it. Also, your statements are just another example of the whining "I want it my way" society that we've cultivated.

People who dislike something because it's changed. "____ band used to be great! They changed their music and now they smurf, they should only ever play the kind of music that they used to and not progress as an artist." is another. Tee Fury used to be a site for shirts that were more independent based designs. Somewhere along the line, they went to a more pop culture relevant site. It's how/when I found the site.

I bet you the change happened when they likely tested the waters with one such parody/mash up shirt and found that the sales for that shirt were much higher than those originally featured. As much you and a few others might have liked those other shirts, TF is a site that is out there to make money, this provides them that opportunity.

In short: you no longer like what TeeFury has to offer? Stop coming here to shop. You already know what to expect every day, so why even bother if you're just going to be rude to the artists about their work. If it's not your design then just pass on a purchase. To say that something is poorly drawn is just mean and not necessary, especially when this particular piece is by no means a poor work, it's just a subject that you don't prefer. There are plenty of other cheap daily/weekly sites that sell shirts that are more independent designs and not pop culture references.

Frequent them, or you're obviously welcome here, but try not to be rude about it.

Love the District 9 logo concept! But, I think it needs Major work when it comes to the Design; the colors and type treatement, for starters.

The District 9 side art is supposed to be a MashedPotato between the movie and Bubba Gump shrimp company which is from Forrest Gump! It's pretty sweet!
  • SeckzBobOmbsaid 37 weeks ago

I think the D9 art might just be better served as it's own design. It's very obscure in it's reference to Bubba Gump because that logo isn't the most well known. It helped get a great idea off the ground, but really, it's good enough as it's own design.

This shirt has put me in a strange place today. I love both the Dukes and also Back to the Future but I have also bought about 3 tees already this week. But what sold me on this is the fact that it is Dukes related... which doesn't get enough love if you ask me! ALSO what sold me is that there is a moonshine distiller as the Mr. Fusion on the General Lee! It's those little details that sold me on this as a buy... so thank you for this!

The Confederate flag originally represented the South when at battle. The American Civil War ended almost 150 years ago, and since then, the flag has taken on a multitude of meanings. Some negative, some positive. The inability for people to agree on it’s symbolism is partially why it’s so controversial. However, since this is a mash-up, that’s not technically the General Lee. Also, I don’t know what kind of special art viewing super powers you have that allow you to see portions of art that are not displayed to the viewer but either way, I’m not capable of such things. Since the Confederate flag is such an emotional and touchy subject for so many (including myself, I don’t really care for the flag because of the many negative things that it has represented) I assumed that the flag was not on top of the car on the shirt. And will continue to unless adanadan says contrary.

That said, I really like the shirt design, The Dukes of Hazard, and Back to the Future. Pretty sweet shirt.
