I rather agree. I feel as though I could go to Target or WalMart and buy something similar. Congrats on the print though, anyway.

Very clever. The distressing is nicely done, and the details of the sign itself are just right--the suggestion of hungry slack-jawed mouths, the shambling gait, the outstretched arms--all classic, but all done without cheating by adding more specificity than the caution sign format allows.

oooooh so tempting and difficult to choose. I like the simplicity, but at the same time it does seem too generic. It's funny. I was mixed up though, as I thought the people were people running away from zombies, not realizing that it WAS zombies on the sign. I wish they were all in different poses that looked more dead and zombie'ish. Love the shirt color, gray would have worked too. I would DEFINITELY love this as a sticker. As a shirt....... need to think about it. Good job though.

I don't understand the popularity of this design. I'm glad I'm not the only one who thinks this is indistinguishable from Walmart junior section graphic tees. Just...completely unoriginal stuff. folks.

Tell us about this design.

This is a gritty reworking of an earlier design. The first was just a simple sign—CAUTION ZOMBIES—whereas this one, well... this one hints at the aftermath of a full zombie apocalypse.

Where are you from?

I'm from a very, very small town in eastern Quebec (think Whoville... but more French) and I currently live and work in Halifax, Nova Scotia.

How did you get started designing t-shirts?

Kind of an odd story, I suppose. About ten years ago a group of my friends would hold parties where everyone had to wear a custom t-shirt, based on a theme. The responsibility always fell to me to come up with the designs for everyone, and then we'd printed them out and iron them onto tees. A lot of hard work for a single night! But I stopped designing tees for years, instead focusing on photography. Once I setup a storefront on a popular photo/card/tee printing site, however, I decided to try my hand at it again. The original Zombie Warning was one of my first designs, and it in fact was based on a series of tees I had created years ago for a party.

What advice would you offer to aspiring designers?

There's a lot I could say here, and most of it kind of obvious. So taking a slightly different approach, I'll say that there's nothing more important than a good night's rest. Staring at a computer screen until 5:00 in the morning isn't going to do you any favors—best to let your brain tackle the problem overnight. Okay, moving on before I turn this into an essay about the science of sleep...

What would be your dream job?

I've had a lot of great jobs, most recently creating editorial images out of Lego for Gizmodo. My dream job, though? I'd love to be a designer at Lego.

What is your favorite thing about Lego?

It's both the creative freedom, and at the same time, the challenge of working with what you have. Oh, and I also love all the new minifigs the company has been churning out these days. So much to work with!

What would your ideal house be like?

People who know me would probably suggest a house made entirely out of Lego. That's not quite my style, though; in fact I am actually self-conscious about the modest amount of Lego currently on display in my living room. (Okay, so maybe it's a bit more than a "modest amount," but it stops short of "completely bonkers," I swear!) Ultimately, I'd love a house with all sorts of secret doors and hidden passageways that lead to awesome rooms dedicated to movies/games/toys.

Star Wars vs. Zombies: which would win the battle?

I'm inclined to believe that any force of nature that can take a shotgun shell to the abdomen and keep plodding forward would probably do well in a battle against mere mortals... but a lightsaber would slice and dice zombies like the SlapChop. So, I'll say Star Wars!

What was your favorite as a kid: comics, cartoons, or movies? Was there a specific title you liked most of all?

I'd say most of my youth was probably devoted to the Star Wars films. After that, I sort of lost myself in video games, which was around about the same time my folks decided that I should stop watching cartoons and "be a man." Cause you know, I was like 11, and it was time for me to chop wood and kill deer.

I think that strategy backfired. :D

What are a few of your favorite websites?

All highbrow stuff, for sure: Penny Arcade, Clients from Hell, Damn You Autocorrect and Brothers Brick. Ooh, and The Weather Network!
