Awesome. I love Ravenclaw, although I've never been a huge fan of Harry Potter. Even though I did get to meet J K Rowling when she was doing her book signings when the 3rd book came out. She was an interesting person to meet.

Also, "HUMAN TEST" is silly. I'm not human but I can clearly defeat it!

Actually, in the films, their animal is a raven. I always assumed Rowling wanted it retconned. Its only logical.

Well, seeing as each house has mostly clearly defined character traits and things they look for it's the same as taking any personality test. And there are lots of places on the internet that runs games, etc where people are split by the houses. It's not just the Harry Potter fandom either, there are lots of fandoms that have different 'houses' ('factions', 'teams', etc) based on character traits.

Hence I can happily say: I'm a Ravenclaw. :)

I'd have assumed they wanted a movie-compliant tee, but they made no comment about 'That's not silver. Try again.' I'll readily agree their symbol probably isn't an American Bald Eagle which is why I didn't make any comment about the tee above, just stated that in the books it's an eagle not a raven, but it's nice to see things for Ravenclaw in book colours for a change \o/. Utter win would have been if it were metallic.

Also, I guess the majority of Harry Potter fans can't read--people have stated over and over again here that the Ravenclaw animal is an eagle, and it's stated very clearly in the books. Must be strictly movie fans.

The problem was, I think the designs for Gryffindor and Ravenclaw came out a lot nicer than the Slytherin one. *sighs* Sadness. I did buy this one, it felt more appropriate than the Gryffindor one, but the Slytherin just wasn't quite there.

I don't know where did you look it up, because that's incorrect. Check in hplexicon and wikipedia. Both clearly say the house mascot is an eagle, not a raven.

Lawl. Browsing the comments is amusing. I never read any of the Harry Potter books, but I can tell you the animals aren't connected to the house names. Biggest hint on this? Griffindor has a LION for a mascot, not a... well... gryphon. And a Huffle isn't a badger.

Also, has it occurred to anyone that the word "raven" also is thought of as "black"? So... who's to say it's not "black claw" and not in reference to the bird?

Regardless. Anyone that has at least watched the movies (oh hey me), the house names are the last names of the ones that founded them.

Actually if you have read the books, you would know that the mascot for Ravenlaw is an eagle. The name Ravenclaw has nothing to do with the mascot.

Yes. If you go by the books (and Pottermore!), the symbol of Ravenclaw is the eagle and the colors are blue and bronze. Warner Brothers just decided to ruin everything for us Ravenclaws. Ironically, if you have any merch from before the first movie came out, the symbol and colors are correct.
