Generally I like my teefury shirts to be devoid of heavy handed political statements. It also seems kind of busy. If you could fix those two elements you might have a real winner.
This shirt is really cool, and under a normal situation I would totally buy it. But I've bought the last three Harry Potter shirts and the most recent Doctor Who shirt. I'm broke.
The sasquatch inclusion cracked me up. Love both of those blue shades with the white silhouettes. The shirt that I REALLY want, though, is the skating panda in the sidebar!!!
filjos said: Generally I like my teefury shirts to be devoid of heavy handed political statements. It also seems kind of busy. If you could fix those two elements you might have a real winner.
Love the shirt. Would like to buy it but can't buy it. I wouldn't mind owning it either. I don't think it's political at all just a very sound prophecy. I mean we had a hand as humans in the extinction of a couple of the those animals why not ourselves. If I owned that shirt I would wear it years after I was dead and gone. 8o)
Uh, Homo stupidus isn't extinct. It's not even endangered. In fact, it's the most dangerous species of all and is at large causing the extinction of all the other animals on the planet, and ultimately itself!
LOVE t-shirt color. Do this blue more often. Love the idea, but I'm afraid I'd have to do too much explaining when I wear it. Congrats on the idea though.
The silhouettes are nicely done, and I disagree with the posts stating that the design is too busy. The repetition strengthens the aesthetic, but at a small sacrifice of the concept — the focus on Homo Stupidus gets muddy by listing a large number of other species. While not my cup of tea, I will recommend this shirt to someone who I know will love it.
Pretty sure it is Quagga.
Don't like the Homo Stupidus...
Also would have liked it more if the boys and girls shirts were both the same color (preferably the turquoise)

There is branching within evolution. Not every species has a linear 'this-became-that' progression. There are some species that over time branched to become two-three different sub-species....One of those might not evolve fast enough or well enough and becomes extinct, where as their close relatives survived.
Either that or if you listen to Creationists there wasn't enough room on the ark for them.
Wow… I'm deaply sawry 'bout that Couagga issue. Yup, it's the french version of Quagga which is the english version of Zebra delle pianure… And it's correct that humans are not extinct since I just saw a couple in the street, not that we klingons are very concerned though… As for Baiji I'm glad to hear that, hope there has been more sightings since. ;^)
filjos said: Generally I like my teefury shirts to be devoid of heavy handed political statements. It also seems kind of busy. If you could fix those two elements you might have a real winner.
I agree--and I like my teefury shirts to make sense. If we're on our way to extinction then by all means-- let's make a statement about it on a shirt instead of actually doing something to fix the perceived issue. Absolute PASS now and forever.
Hm. Humans kill themselves for lots of reasons: war, abortion, revenge, depression. I'm not sure if the shirt is suggesting all of those, but it's pretty cool either way.
love how the humans are designed after the Pioneer 10/11 plaque messages (the plaques were attached to the Pioneer space probes back in the 70s along with some hints how to find us or at least our sun, in case any extraterrestrial life form comes across the space probes). very thoughtful ...
IvyKing said: I thought it was just spelled "Quagga"?
That's what's preventing me from getting this shirt.
Thanks to Bing I just learned a Couagga is French, a Quagga is German, Cuagga is Spanish, Kvagga is Swedish, and they are all a type of zebra! Love the shirt!
Lol at humans on the extinct species list, would love to buy this shirt, but it doesn't come in a "girly" 3XL and heck, the color for girls is different than the color for guys, and it would be obvious if I had the shirt. If it did I would totally buy it if they made it in a size that fit me.
Couagga is the French spelling. Given that the artist appears to be French and the design is based on a plaque at the Paris Natural History Museum, it would seem to be the appropriate spelling. But what the smurf do I know?
Furthermore, everyone who says "I don't like t-shirts with political messages" are smurfing tools. Let me guess... you prefer your political messages emblazoned across your Brooks Brothers suits, or you prefer your t-shirts with mind-numbing pop culture references, churned out with machine-like regularity to help you escape the shallow, meaningless existence of your life (so-called). I'm not really sure which. But for most of the world (you know: think brown people that don't speak English) politics is the difference between life and death. It's a fairly bourgeois, Western conceit to imagine the possibility of escaping a life involving politics, and it's even more naive to imagine this escapism being facilitated by the child's playthings given to you by your slave-master overlords.
So why not use t-shirts as political propaganda? They're cheap, they're easily accessible to the masses. They're like the pamphlets of haberdashery. Because whether you like it or not, your apolitical t-shirt still makes a political statement. Why not cut out the middle man?
As far as the extinction of mankind, I think it's kind of a long shot, but we are certainly in for a Malthusian Catastrophe any day now.
jenschk said: This is definitely my kind of t-shirt because I studied zoology but sadly the fact that it's not Quagga would drive me completely mad if I owned it.

This guy is right. All the other people who say things like "this is too depressing" are too checked out to deserve to survive. Hopefully those family lines die off, probably clutching cheap plastic smurf made in China that makes them "happy".
Just stop and think about this for a second. Somebody expresses a truly real concern about the extinction of humanity because of our own stupidity. And, because we're stupid enough to on the road to our own extinction in the first place, most people just don't want you to talk about such a downer.
Woooooooooooow… at least some humans are sure alive and kickin' (my ass, which would feel bad if I had one which I don't, I'm a protozoan…) Will I survive this of be in the gallery of extinct Teefury designers? Let's wait n' see! To those who find it depressing, stupid, ugly, quaggy… I'm sorry but I'll have to sell at least a few thousands to pay the shrink fees… As far as I'm concerned, this wasn' t meant to be a summit in modern science thinking but more a joke using classic museum graphic codes (yeah it's done on purpose… can you believe that…). Anyways thx to the thankers and well, guess I'll submit the side art for the others… Meanwhile I gotta go pluricellular so see ya!
Not really enough to this.. Needs something to add to the humor like Barney the Dinosaur or idonno.. This just seems uselessly preachy and not clever like I'm watching a bad episode of Twilight Zone.
It is an age-old joke that I really think has been delivered in better ways already, even as a t-shirt. However, I think you could run with the "Human Stupidus" line and make a series of shirts if you wanted to.
So you've got a bunch of real animals, a cryptid, and then humans who nowhere close to extinction. Is this shirt saying were next? If it is then I would suggest removing Bigfoot and putting in an actual animal. Having a joke animal in the mix completely removes the importance of the message you're trying to get across.
Idea is based on the extinct (or soon to be) species gallery in the Paris museum of natural history where you can see a quite sad sample line-up of those already gone and those who might be soon, and since we're stupid enough to destroy ourselves without any exterior help, I added the silhouettes (the pioneer plaque ones) in advance… ;^)
Where are you from?
France…but grew up in different places…
What do you want TeeFury fans to know about you?
Well I'm a freelance designer hooked on designing fun stuff when not on duty, seeing and learning from all the great designers around and quite happy when I get a print, fo sho!
Not really into things, can't afford them… unless the shirt sells through the roof and I'll tell you ASAP…
What kind of art did you make as a kid?
Not much, I was too busy playing, riding my bike/skate or whatever I was up to at the moment…
What is your favorite thing about the outdoors?
What? Uhh… maybe the fresh air and the higher probability of a close encounter of the third kind, (first or second encounters would be fine too…).
Unicorn vs. dinosaur: which would win the battle?
The dino would likely win by default since the Unicorn would be to busy with his rainbow make-up thing and would miss the deadline…
Describe your favorite shirt that you own, and why you like it so much.
That' s a tough choice. But there is a very simple anthracite shirt I bought years ago at the NY Guggenheim with a minimal one color design representing the "spiral" ramp that I like a lot. But there are many other more illo. style shirts that I like.
Which is better, gaming, reading, or watching movies? Name your favorite title in your chosen medium.
None or reading AND movies AND music AND… but let's say Holy grail cause that is definitely my kind of thinking… and I won't bore U with my book tastes will I…
What inspires your work?
Everything, I try to keep my eyes and ears open, the brainy thing does the rest I guess.
