Tell us a bit about this design.
This one is a mashup of one of my favorite paintings "Washington Crossing the Delaware"by Emanuel Gottlieb Leutze, and one of the greatest movies ever made, "The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou". It's just something I saw in my head, and couldn't rest until it was completed.
Where are you from?
I am from Pleasant Hill California, in the San Francisco Bay Area. It's a quaint little town...pleasant you might even say.
What do you want TeeFury fans to know about you?
I've always been a skateboarder...and a jock. I think it's OK to mix genres and mediums.
What do you absolutely not want them to find out?
I broke 4 bones in my foot walking out of a sushi place a few days ago. Just totally ate it, and blew my right foot apart. Surgery tomorrow. I am completely lame. I also got laid off this year, so 2011 kinds of sucks so far.
Name a few of your favorite things.
My wife and two sons (12, and 9). Burritos. The Big Lebowski. Sleeping with an oscillating fan (I had to put 'oscillating' in there, so people don't think I sleep with people who like my work, even though I prefer the fans not oscillating).
What kind of art did you make as a kid?
The drawing I drew thousands of times as a tyke was Godzilla attacking a cruise ship. I remember seeing the original Poseidon Adventure, and thinking it would have been way better if Gojira was wreaking havoc instead of a boring wave. So, my subconscious captain said, "Make it so!", over, and over again.
What is your favorite thing about the ocean?
Probably that there's fish in there...THAT WILL MURDER YOU WITH THEIR FACE! Imagine if you had to catch and kill tonight's dinner with your face. Respect.
Bacon vs. chocolate: which would win the battle?
Bacon. It tastes like sinning.
Describe your favorite shirt that you own, and why you like it so much.
My favorite shirt is of the logo I made for Johnny Romano/Spitfire wheels. Johnny lost his long battle with Leukemia a couple years ago, but his memory is alive and well within skateboarding.
Which is better, gaming, reading, or watching movies? Name your favorite title in your chosen medium.
I'd say movies. I love reading though. Video games are pretty cool too. Favorite title? There's no way I could ever pick.
What inspires your work?
I have not been able to pin that down yet. I think once I do, I will get quite a bit more done.
Any shout outs?
Teefury, and everybody who has ever bought one of my shirts. Thanks!
