T. Rexes vs. UFOs
About the artist
Tell us about this design.
It was originally a commission for a friend, where he just threw out random things at me and I would sketch them down. He ended up using a modified version of this design, but I was always fond of the original.
Where are you from?
Currently I reside in Greenville, North Carolina, United States of America, Earth, Sol System, Orion Arm of The Milky Way Galaxy, Local Group, Virgo Supercluster.
How would you describe your style?
When doing what I like to do, I tend to have a loose, gestural style, packed with a lot of iconography and mythological references. Otherwise, I tend to do more design-based, vector work. One day I hope to somehow combine the two.
If you could collaborate with anyone, who would you pick?
Hands down: Olly Moss. The guy is a genius when it comes to taking a quirky angle on something and paring it down to its simplest form. It's beautiful to watch.
What historical figure do you most admire?
Since both science and social justice are very important to me, I'd say it's a tie between Galileo and Martin Luther King Jr.. Galileo forever changed the way we see our place in the universe, whereas Dr. King changed the way we see each other, and helped pave the way for all sorts of equal-rights movements to come.
If you weren't designing shirts, what would you be doing?
Ideally, I'd love to do more fine art type stuff. Perhaps I can add that in addition to t-shirt designs in the future.
Would you rather fight alien invaders or help them infiltrate Earth?
If the aliens were doing some sort of "secret invasion" with ultimately good purposes for us, I'd help them out. Otherwise, count me in the resistance.
T-Rex vs. Mr. T: which would win the battle?
Is this even a contest? I pity the fool who would stand toe-to-toe with a Tyrannosaurus Rex.
What is your favorite t-shirt color?
I tend to prefer muted colors, and my all-time favorite is grey.
What has been your favorite vacation or travel experience?
Probably the most memorable trip was to Argentina nearly ten years ago. The people I met there were ridiculously friendly - nothing like I'd seen before. Also, Buenos Aires was a really beautiful city, rich with culture and history. I highly recommend it.
Any shout outs?
A big thank you goes to Wayne, who inspired this particular design. Thanks, man!
