Slothbert Love Chunkie
About the artistArt curated by
Tell us about this design.
The original idea started with a quick sketch of Slothbert. At some point during the work day, I realized that Bert and Sloth have very similarly shaped heads. Thus the Sesame Street/Goonies mashup was born. Ernie as Chunk seemed like the only likely next step.
Where are you from?
I am from Iowa. I am surrounded by corn. Lots and lots of corn.
How would you describe your style?
I guess I wouldn't be able to describe my style as any one particular thing. I really try and change things up, adapting my "style" to whatever project or illustration I'm working on.
If you could collaborate with anyone, who would you pick?
James Jean. He's amazing.
What historical figure do you most admire?
That old guy from that one time long long ago. You remember him, right? Of course, how could you forget?
If you weren't designing shirts, what would you be doing?
Selling books. I love books.
Which would be a more fun world to visit, Sesame Street or Goonies?
Honestly, Goonies always made me feel uncomfortable. There's just some really awkward moments in that movie, so I think I would hands down have to say Sesame Street.
Pirates vs. submarines: which would win the battle?
I've always been told that sandwiches don't put up much of a fight, so I'm going to with Pirates.
What is your favorite t-shirt color?
What has been your favorite vacation or travel experience?
My first trip out to Seattle was probably one of the coolest experiences I've had. There's just something magical about the Pacific Northwest.
Any shout outs?
Huge huge huge shout out to Ian Leino and Sean Husbands (a.k.a. Winter Artwork). They are both stand up guys and always willing to offer suggestions and feedback. I wouldn't be the same without them.
