I want the last two sidearts. I would spend money on those. The shirt "rowbot" is really cute, but it's a little too bright blue. I love what you wrote for telling about the design, very nice. =P Overall, great work! (I just don't like overly bright colors...I'm too white.)

The colors, design and simplicity are first-rate.

Once nit-pick though is that he's sitting in the boat backwards. The "pointed" bow should be behind him to allow for less water resistance. The "straight" stern should be where his feet are located.

I hate to say it, but something was bothering me about this t-shirt...

He's rowing backwards; for the robot to be in that orientation the bow would have to be pointing the other way and the ripples be on the lower right; or the robot would have to have its back to us...

dearest artist,

The bow of the boat is facing the wrong direction, the wake is correct, and the oars are in the correct position, but the robot's back needs to be to us. one does not look out the front of a rowboat whilst rowing, at least not with standard human style arms. please see "US Marshals" starring robert downey jr. and tommy lee jones for a modified rowboat that works the way the one on your shirt does.

To those of you who have pointed out that the boat is backwards:

If this shirt were named 'Rowboy' instead of 'Rowbot', and it had a picture of a young boy rowing the boat backwards like this: I would gladly join in the criticism. However! This is clearly a robot that is designed to be able to row a boat whilst looking in the right direction. I would expect that any robot created to row a boat would certainly have this as part of it's feature list. ;)

Actually, I think how the rowboat is made works due to the fact it makes the robot appear to move forward and off the shirt. The point of the rowboat makes you look that way. It would look too awkward had it be done another way, but that's my opinion.

I had this sculpting teacher once who wanted us to make robots out of cardboard. He had a very thick accent. All of us made robots except one guy. He made a rowboat. His accent made the two words indistinguishable. The guy then turned his rowboat into a robotic rowboat.

If anyone has ever rowed a boat before you know your back is to the bow of the boat... or the pointy end. That way you can use your back muscles, and legs to row harder.

It seems like he is rowing incorrectly to me. Usually you want to be facing the back of the boat and using your weight to pull the oars through the water. Cute shirt, but this Row-Bot don't know howta Row.

Unfortunately the artist has never rowed a boat.
1. You face the stern, not the bow.
2. The oars must be in oar locks or you`re now rowing, you`re paddling.
Artist`s impression of rowing leaves me cold.

I completely agree... you can even see it on his face... he's thinking "On one hand i could get kicked out of camp and lose all of the trust with my parents... but on the other hand i get to see my girlfriend..." It's definitely a hard decision for him.

Seems like the boat should be pointing the other way, and the bow waves should be on the opposite side.

Yeah, that was my issue too. I mean... the bot could be rowing the boat forwards... but that's just ridiculous.

Pretty sweet design, punny indeed. I am a sucker for blue but thats a bit bright for my tastes, congrats. Also, I love the NES/Genesis side art. However, I feel that should not be the Genesis, it should be the Master System: Genesis was a generation after NES

I love this little guy! Original art is great. I enjoy the pop culture artistic mash ups that teefury is so skilled at curating, but I wish this kind of original design made up the majority of the tshirts.

Tell us about this design.

Its a robot rowing a rowboat. He's probably in a lake. I'd imagine he sneaked out of his cabin and is rowing to the opposite shore where the girl robot camp is. You can tell by the look on his face that he's pretty nervous about the camp counselor checking his bunk. He stuck his dufflebag under the blanket so it kinda looks like he's still in bed, but man...if he gets caught, he knows it'll be a call home. His dad warned him that he better shape up or expect some serious consequences. Why can't he just focus and get his life on track?? Oh well, its a risk, but it'll be worth it. you're only a robot once.

Where are you from?

Simi Valley! Hidden jewel of Southern California. The soda flows like water and the pizza parties are nightly.

How did you get started designing t-shirts?

I was making stupid pictures already...and then i figured out you can submit them to things! Perfect situation.

What advice would you offer to aspiring designers?

Stop already! You're making your ancestors sad.

What would be your dream job?

Probably what I'm doing...weird huh! Teaching and making fun things on the side.

What is your favorite thing about robots?

The lower half.

What would your ideal house be like?

Small and wooden...shingles and a dutch door. and a hedge maze out front.

Motorcycles vs. bicycles: which would win the battle?

I don't what to touch that volatile topic! Politics aren't my thing.

What was your favorite as a kid: comics, cartoons, or movies? Was there a specific title you liked most of all?

Cartoons for sure! I always wanted to like comics, but they were too much work to stay current on.

It probably wasn't my favorite at the time, but in retrospect I'd like to believe that Count Duckula was the best.

What are a few of your favorite websites?

Wikipedia! all day and all night. I like to look at ffffound.com too. oh! and the personal sites of some illustrators and designers that are really good (Kevin Cornell at Bearskinrug.co.uk, Edgar McHerly at InvisibleHairsuit.com, Mike Mitchell at Sirmikeofmitchell.com).
